The International Forum on Civilization Mutual Learning 2025 opened in Macau on the 16th. The forum, with the core theme of "mutual learning and inheritance development of civilizations", gathered about 300 government department representatives, international organization representatives, experts and scholars from nearly 10 countries and regions to give more than 20 keynote speeches and engage in academic exchanges. Wang Gang, Vice Minister of the Central Propaganda Department, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, stating that the Global Civilization Initiative provides Chinese wisdom and solutions to enhance cultural exchange and mutual learning, and promote the progress of human civilization. The holding of the International Forum on Mutual Learning of Civilizations is a vivid practice of implementing the Global Civilization Initiative, building a new platform for equal dialogue, exchange, mutual learning, and mutual enlightenment among different civilizations. It is timely and of profound significance. We look forward to all guests brainstorming and speaking freely, building consensus through communication, gathering strength through mutual learning, and injecting new momentum into the prosperity and development of human civilization together. Director of the Department of Social and Cultural Affairs of the Macao SAR Government, Ke Lan, delivered a speech expressing the hope that all guests can summarize and promote dialogue models from the prosperity of multiculturalism, contribute to global civilization exchange, and use this forum as an opportunity to launch the "Macao Initiative", view different civilizations with equality and respect, promote dialogue and cooperation with an open and inclusive mind, and make the garden of human civilization more splendid. At the keynote speech session held on the same day, six experts and scholars, including Li Guoqiang, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of History, Alfred Hornen, academician of the European Academy of Sciences and research professor and director of the Obama Institute at the University of Mainz in Germany, Qian Chengdan, Boya Chair Professor at Peking University, Wu Zhiliang, Deputy Director of the Cultural History and Learning Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Foundation, Zheng Yongnian, Dean of the School of Public Policy and the Qianhai Institute of International Affairs at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), and Xu Tianjin, Dean of the Liangzhu Museum (Liangzhu Institute), gave speeches. The forum will have two parallel forums, with the themes of mutual learning and diverse coexistence of civilizations, and cultural heritage protection and sustainable development. There will also be 6 academic salons, where guests will share their views on topics such as the inheritance of civilization and historical paths, global challenges and response strategies for the protection of world cultural heritage, the value of the "One Country, Two Systems" practice and mutual learning of civilizations, international cooperation practices and experiences in cultural heritage protection, cultural diversity and the community with a shared future for mankind, and the new concept of world cultural heritage protection starting from Macau. This forum is hosted by the Macao SAR government, organized by the Cultural Bureau of the SAR government, and supported by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese Academy of History.
