China and Singapore have close economic and trade ties. Since 2013, China has been Singapore's largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years, with a bilateral trade volume of 111.11 billion US dollars in 2024. In the past decade, the China Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Interconnection Demonstration Project has become an efficient and feasible trade channel, connecting Southeast Asia and western China, and radiating to a wider region. Over the years, the rapid growth of container throughput in this channel has fully demonstrated its value and development resilience. All of this cannot be achieved without our close cooperation with Guangxi, "said Chen Haiquan, Singapore's Ambassador to China. Chen Haiquan was interviewed. As a global logistics hub, Singapore provides convenience for the circulation of goods between other countries and China. And Qinzhou Port in Guangxi is a key node of the Western Land Sea New Corridor, as well as a gateway for Southeast Asian goods to enter the Chinese market through Singapore. In this context, Guangxi held the "Buy in China (Guangxi Station) and Guangxi Silk Road E-commerce Carnival" event on December 19th. The Embassy of Singapore in China is delighted to support this event, which not only promotes trade and investment, but also builds a communication bridge between ASEAN countries and Guangxi, promoting cultural exchanges between the two sides. ”Chen Haiquan said. The signing of the China ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 Upgrade Protocol is an important support for ASEAN and China to achieve high-quality and resilient growth. ”Chen Haiquan believes that "this demonstrates the firm commitment of ASEAN and China to free trade and multilateralism. This upgrade is timely and will bring tangible benefits to ASEAN and Chinese enterprises." Chen Haiquan added that the 3.0 version of the protocol will provide convenience for cross-border transactions between enterprises, reduce compliance costs, and enhance the confidence of small and medium-sized enterprises in cross-border operations in the ASEAN and Chinese markets. Chen Haiquan pointed out that the addition of chapters on supply chain interconnectivity, digital economy, and green economy will help businesses and people in various economies seize new opportunities and enhance their resilience against risks. At the same time, the strong commitment to consumer rights protection in the protocol will help prevent harm caused to consumers by unfair business practices. Looking ahead to the future, Chen Haiquan said, "We look forward to working together with Guangxi to further enhance connectivity, improve logistics service systems, and open up new paths for trade and investment between the two regions
