On the 8th, the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission and the Guangdong Provincial Drug Administration released the fourth batch of designated medical institutions for the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Connect" in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macau Greater Bay Area. Currently, there are 71 designated medical institutions for the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Connect". According to the policy of "Hong Kong Macao Drug and Equipment Access", the mainland designated medical institutions in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area can use drugs that are urgently needed clinically and have been listed in Hong Kong and Macao, as well as medical devices that are urgently needed clinically and have been purchased and used by public hospitals in Hong Kong and Macao and have progressiveness clinical applications after being approved by Guangdong Province. The newly added 27 designated hospitals include: the Pearl River Hospital of Southern Medical University, Brain Hospital Affiliated to Guangzhou Medical University, Guangdong Second People's Hospital, etc. According to the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission, in August of this year, the commission initiated the application process for the fourth batch of designated medical institutions under the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Pass" and organized a review of the qualifications of the first three batches of designated medical institutions. 27 new hospitals were identified as the fourth batch of designated hospitals, 44 hospitals passed the qualification review, and 1 hospital was removed from the list of designated hospitals due to closure. According to the relevant notices issued by the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission and the Guangdong Provincial Drug Administration, administrative departments at or above the prefecture level should strengthen supervision and management of designated medical institutions. Designated medical institutions should continuously deepen cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao medical and health services, strengthen clinical research and import declaration of Hong Kong and Macao medical devices, continuously improve the relevant system of "Hong Kong and Macao Medical Device Connect", ensure that imported Hong Kong and Macao medical devices are only used for specific medical purposes in their own medical institutions, and ensure the safety of medication and equipment. Guangdong Province has officially implemented the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Connect" since 2021, and has announced three batches of designated medical institution lists in August 2021, February 2023, and September 2024.
