More than 80 years ago, during the national crisis, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Nankai University jointly established a school in Yunnan for 8 years, creating a miracle in the history of Chinese education and sowing the seeds of China's scientific and technological development. In accordance with the spirit of the Southwest Associated University, Gu Binglin, an academician of the CAS Member and the former president of Tsinghua University, Xu Zhihong, an academician of the CAS Member and the former president of Peking University, and Rao Zihe, an academician of the CAS Member and the former president of Nankai University, jointly initiated the Tengchong Scientists Forum in 2022.
