On the 4th, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Hefei Institute of Technology Innovation (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute") unveiled its plaque in Hefei, Anhui. The research institute focuses on two cutting-edge fields: aerospace information and precision biomedical sensors, and will deepen cooperation between Anhui and Hong Kong to promote technological innovation and achievement transformation. It is understood that the research institute is a new type of research and development institution jointly established by the People's Government of Hefei City and Luyang District, Hefei City, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It combines the strong scientific research strength and international perspective of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with the actual needs of industrial development in Hefei City. In the field of aerospace information, the research institute has established three major research and development centers: Beidou application technology, planetary remote sensing and machine vision, and aircraft and low altitude navigation; In the field of biomedicine, four research and development centers have been established, including biosensors, medical ultrasound imaging and sensing, tumor radiotherapy efficacy management auxiliary robots, ultrasound neural regulation, and ultrasound diagnosis and treatment. Each research and development center relies on the scientific research advantages of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in fields such as deep space exploration, Beidou navigation, and low altitude economy, combined with the resources of Hefei in scientific and technological innovation and industrial agglomeration, aiming to create an international innovation platform that integrates high-end scientific research, talent cultivation, and industrial incubation. In recent years, Hefei's influence in the global innovation landscape has significantly increased, rising to 39th place in the 2025 global technology cluster ranking. Lin Dahui, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, stated that the establishment of the research institute is an important step for the university to integrate into the overall development of the country. We will fully leverage the research strength and international experience of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, closely integrate with the industrial needs of Anhui, and contribute wisdom and strength to the construction of the regional innovation system.
