Frostbite should be treated at a burn department. If your hands are frozen, do not soak them directly in hot water

2025-12-04

As the cold wave moves eastward and southward, temperatures in many areas continue to drop. When the weather is cold, it is recommended to wear gloves, thick socks, ear protection hats, etc. when going out, and pay attention to keeping the head and chest and abdomen warm. The appearance of pale, numb, stiff, red, swollen, or stinging skin is an early sign of frostbite. It should be immediately returned to a warm environment and slowly reheated with warm water close to body temperature. Never soak, roast or snow rub directly in hot water to avoid secondary damage to the tissue. Severe frostbite requires timely medical attention and treatment at a burn department. Recommend using the "onion style" layered dressing method. Choose quick drying materials for the inner layer, wear fleece or thin down jackets for the middle layer, and wear a jacket or thick down jacket for the outer layer. (New Society)
