December 3rd is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The Social Work Bureau of the Macau SAR Government, in conjunction with Amap, held a press conference here on the same day, announcing the official launch of Amap Macau's accessible navigation system. It is reported that Macau citizens and tourists in need will prioritize planning accessible and relatively convenient bus and light rail routes when taking public transportation after setting the accessibility mode (wheelchair navigation) on the app; When using pedestrian navigation, priority will be given to planning relatively flat routes and avoiding pedestrian overpasses and underground passages. The navigation system has imported over 300 pieces of information on accessible facilities for the Macau Paralympic Games venues, airports, docks, land ports, stations, hotels, and other places. By searching, you can view information on accessible entrances, exits, restrooms, and parking spaces for these places. The Director of the Social Work Bureau, Han Wei, stated that with the aging population in Macau, the demand for accessible environments among residents continues to rise. At the same time, as a world tourism and leisure center, Macau's improved accessibility environment can facilitate travelers' travel and help create an accessible tourism destination. Li Yanxia, Vice President of Amap, expressed her hope to build a new accessible and friendly travel scene in Macau through this navigation system, providing more convenient, safe, and equal navigation services for people with disabilities, the elderly, and all friends who need accessible travel.
