The reporter learned from the Yangshao Culture Research Center in Sanmenxia City, Henan Province that a construction project in the city's economic and technological development zone has discovered 45 ancient tombs. The burial period includes the Warring States, Northern Dynasties, Tang Dynasty, and Qing Dynasty, and unearthed cultural relics such as copper hairpins, tower shaped jars, and bronze mirrors. According to Gao Ming, a curator at the Yangshao Culture Research Center in Sanmenxia City, from August to October this year, in order to cooperate with a construction project planned by the local education department, the research center excavated 45 tombs discovered during previous archaeological investigations and explorations. Among them, Tomb M30 is a sloping tomb with a soil cave, and unearthed copper hairpin, copper ring, copper coin, and iron knife, all located on the coffin bed. Based on the comprehensive analysis of tomb morphology and unearthed artifacts, the era of M30 is determined to be the Northern Dynasties. ”Gao Ming introduced that the M30 tomb chamber has coffins and the phenomenon of two people being buried together, reflecting the integration of Han and ethnic minority cultures in northern China during the Northern Dynasties period. Gao Ming introduced that in tombs M4, M5, M7, M9, and M28, archaeologists discovered cultural relics such as tower shaped jars, bronze mirrors, and gray pottery jars. Based on the shape of the tombs and the unearthed artifacts, it is determined that the era is the Tang Dynasty. It is worth mentioning that the bronze mirrors unearthed in Tomb M7 are very exquisite. The copper mirror has a diameter of 11.2 centimeters, a thickness of 0.45 centimeters, and a button height of 0.4 centimeters. It is in the shape of an eight petal water chestnut flower, with an inscribed circle and a round button. The button is decorated with bird and flower branch patterns around the edge, and bees and flowers are arranged alternately inside the edge. The Tang Dynasty tower shaped jar unearthed in the M5 tomb consists of three parts: lid, jar, and base. The surface of the jar is coated with a layer of white pottery, and then painted on it. Some of the painted parts have fallen off, leaving behind black, vermilion, and orange colored paintings. According to Gao Ming, archaeologists also discovered cultural relics such as pottery inkstones with visible ink marks in the tomb complex. The archaeological site is adjacent to the ancient city of Shanzhou in Sanmenxia City to the west, and is only about 400 meters away from the Yellow River to the north. It is possible that it was a cemetery for people in the city of Shanzhou during the Warring States, Northern Dynasties, Tang Dynasty, and Qing Dynasty. This discovery provides valuable materials for studying the funeral customs of tombs in the Warring States, Northern Dynasties, Tang Dynasty, and Qing Dynasty in the Sanmenxia region. (New Society)
