Recently, Sichuan Province issued the "Guidelines for the Construction of Cultural Relics Theme Tours in Sichuan Province (Trial)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines"), providing systematic and standardized guidance for the construction of cultural relics theme tours in the province, and vigorously promoting the coordinated development of Sichuan's cultural heritage protection and cultural tourism. The cultural relic themed tour route is a cultural heritage tourism route that focuses on immovable cultural relics as the backbone, specific themes as the main line, and is organically related and linked together to showcase thematic historical and cultural heritage. The "Guidelines" clearly state that the construction of cultural relics themed tourist trails should strictly follow the work requirements of "protection first, strengthening management, exploring value, effective utilization, and making cultural relics come alive", encourage cooperation between counties, link with surrounding areas, form a larger range of cultural heritage tourism routes, and enhance overall influence. The "Guidelines" encourage the creation of themed trails focusing on Ba Shu culture (ancient Shu civilization, Ba culture, San Su culture, etc.), linear heritage (Shu Road, Tea Horse Ancient Road, etc.), characteristic industrial relics (Sichuan salt, Sichuan wine, etc.), red culture (Long March, Third Front construction, etc.), and characteristic cultural heritage such as Han Que and grotto temples. The "Guidelines" require that immovable cultural relics included in the cultural relics theme trail should be related to the theme of the trail, with a minimum quantity of 3, and the proportion of open cultural relics resources should not be less than 80%. The construction of cultural relics themed trails should deeply analyze the regional cultural characteristics and historical background. Based on a systematic review of cultural relics and heritage resources, themes should be constructed around historical culture, historical celebrities, and historical events to form distinctive and distinctive trail themes. The Guidelines suggest that in addition to immovable cultural relics resources, cultural relics themed trails can also connect historical and cultural cities, towns, villages, blocks, buildings, traditional villages, and even include agricultural heritage, industrial heritage, time-honored brands, water conservancy heritage, scenic spots, natural landscapes, and be included in cultural venues such as museums, memorial halls, libraries, art galleries, theaters, cultural centers, and intangible cultural heritage museums. In recent years, the construction of cultural relics themed tourist trails in Sichuan has yielded fruitful results. In the list of excellent cultural relics themed tours for 2024, there are 4 Sichuan cultural relics themed tours, ranking first in the country in terms of quantity. Among them, the "Dongpo Journey" Chinese Cultural Relics Theme Tour was selected as a special recommended case, the "Sichuan Road Golden Bull" Cultural Relics Theme Tour was selected as one of the top ten cases, and the Ziyang Dazu Grottoes Stone Carvings and China's Two Bombs City were selected as excellent cultural relics theme tours. In 2025, Sichuan released a themed tour of ancient Shu civilization and cultural relics, relying on the three major national archaeological sites of Baodun Ancient City, Sanxingdui, and Jinsha, to create two routes: "Ancient Shu Origins" and "Light of Civilization", connecting six major cultural relics and seven exhibition venues; Launching the Bazhong Grottoes Cultural Relics Theme Trail, covering 6 national protection units and 1 county protection unit.
