Guangzhou Rio Friendship City Story opens a new chapter in vocational education

Recently, the unveiling and opening ceremony of the "Brazilian Cotton School" was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, hosted by Guangzhou City Vocational College and co organized by Rio de Janeiro State University, Rio Chinese Association, and New Journey Business Center. This is also the latest chapter in the story of Guangzhou, Guangdong and Rio's sister cities. Vice Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, Wang Haitao, Deputy Mayor of Guangzhou, Hu Hao, Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, Yang Yong, Vice President of Guangzhou City Vocational College, Wang Jun, Vice President of Rio State University, Bruno Rodriguez, Rio State Councilor Dani Monteiro, General Manager of CNOOC Brazil, Huang Yehua, President of the Rio Chinese Association, Chen Bingwen, and President of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce Federation, Adair Carneiro, attended the meeting. Wang Jun stated that the establishment of the "Brazilian Cotton School" is a practical achievement of deepening cooperation between Guangzhou and Rio de Janeiro as sister cities, and will promote deeper and more practical exchanges in vocational education between China and Brazil. Relying on the International Friendship City Vocational Alliance, the college has promoted the "Cotton School" and "Chinese+Skills" projects in multiple countries, forming a cooperation model with international influence. In the future, we will continue to output high-quality courses and technical standards based on the needs of Brazilian industries, to help cultivate local skilled talents. Bruno Rodriguez stated that the establishment of the "Brazilian Cotton School" injects new impetus into the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, humanities, and technical training. Brazil is currently in the stage of industrial upgrading and has an urgent demand for technical and skilled talents. Red Cotton School provides a new window for local students to understand China, learn Chinese, and enhance their skills. We look forward to further expanding cooperation between both parties in curriculum co construction, resource sharing, and teacher-student exchanges. Wang Haitao pointed out that this school is the latest achievement of cultural exchange and vocational education cooperation between China and Pakistan, and also a vivid practice of promoting talent co education and civilization mutual learning in the new era. Xuetang relies on the professional advantages of Guangzhou City Vocational College in digital commerce, e-commerce, logistics and other fields, and will promote the deep integration of high-quality courses with Lingnan culture and local industrial needs. The Consulate General will continue to play a bridging role, support cooperation from all sectors, and contribute to the construction of a China Pakistan community with a shared future. After the unveiling, the first "Chinese+Vocational Skills" course of the "Brazilian Cotton School" officially opened. The first batch of students from Rio entered the classroom, covering basic Chinese, cross-cultural communication, e-commerce practices, etc. The classroom interaction was lively, and students deepened their understanding of Chinese culture and vocational skills while learning the language. On site, Guangzhou City Vocational College, Rio State University, and Rio Chinese Association officially signed a cooperation agreement, which includes jointly building the "Brazilian Cotton School", promoting the "Chinese+Vocational Skills" system, conducting teacher-student exchanges, and jointly building projects. Guangzhou City Vocational College is sponsored by the People's Government of Guangzhou, which has long served the talent needs of the "the Belt and Road" countries. Last year, the college took the lead in establishing the Guangzhou International Friendship City Vocational Education Alliance to accelerate the international layout of vocational education.
