Digitization makes manufacturing industry increasingly strong
2025-11-27
From big data analysis to IoT technology, from energy-saving transformation to green transformation, from automated production lines to intelligent robots... Currently, China's manufacturing industry is becoming more high-end, intelligent, and green. Faced with profound changes in the global industrial landscape, Chinese manufacturing is using digital transformation as a lever to achieve the upgrading of traditional industries. The manufacturing industry is the lifeline of the national economy, the foundation of a country, and the basis of a strong nation. From 2020 to 2024, the total industrial added value in China increased from 31.3 trillion yuan to 40.5 trillion yuan, and the manufacturing added value increased from 26.6 trillion yuan to 33.6 trillion yuan. The digital transformation of manufacturing industry represented by the industrial Internet has been deepening. At present, the industrial Internet in China has covered all industrial categories. Many regions are striving to carry out the practice and exploration of digital transformation in the manufacturing industry based on their own reality. For example, Hunan Province has created the Changsha model of intelligent manufacturing, cultivating a total of 11 national outstanding intelligent factories, 13 national intelligent manufacturing demonstration factory unveiling units, and 38 excellent scenes. Guangdong Province has proposed multiple policy measures to strengthen key supply and promote application promotion, accelerating the construction of a globally influential demonstration zone for the integrated development of "artificial intelligence+manufacturing industry". As a traditional energy province, Shanxi Province has focused on three paths of energy smart transformation, industrial upgrading, and moderate diversified development, and has constructed a modern industrial system that reflects local characteristics and comparative advantages. In the process of digital transformation in manufacturing, weak data foundation remains the main obstacle faced by many enterprises. Most consumer goods manufacturing companies lack clean and accessible historical data archives, including past formulas, quality assurance reports, and consumer testing results. Additionally, the issue of data silos is prominent. Within the enterprise, different departments often use incompatible data standards, which makes cross system integration extremely difficult due to the decentralization of data. Small and medium-sized enterprises often face higher barriers to transformation, falling into the dual dilemma of high transformation costs and weak technological capabilities. In response to this, we need to make more efforts and collaborate to promote digital transformation, making the manufacturing industry stronger and stronger. On the one hand, building a solid industrial support system. Continuously carry out the "unveiling and leading" work of intelligent manufacturing system solutions, explore and cultivate specialized suppliers who master core technologies and deeply cultivate segmented industries. Focus on supporting the construction of industrial Internet platform system, promote the integration and sharing of three resource pools: basic data pool, service provider resource pool, solution and product pool, and provide enterprises of different sizes with full process services from accurate diagnosis to benchmarking. We should encourage localities to develop differentiated development paths according to local conditions. Starting from the actual development of manufacturing enterprises, we will improve the policy system for digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, promote local governments to formulate supporting policies based on actual conditions, strengthen coordination and cooperation between departments and regions, and coordinate the promotion of various aspects of digital transformation of the manufacturing industry. On the other hand, enterprises need to implement precise policies and promote them in stages based on their own scale and industry characteristics. Leading enterprises should target the construction of "lighthouse factories" and create industry benchmarks. Medium sized enterprises can carry out "digital diagnosis" to identify bottleneck links and implement targeted reforms. Small and micro enterprises can start with device networking and take the first step towards digital transformation with the help of government subsidy packages at the lowest cost. Relevant enterprises should attach great importance to data governance, establish unified data standards and collection norms, break internal data silos, and form a "golden record" mechanism. Establish a knowledge management system to prevent the loss of institutional memory due to employee turnover. In addition, for consumers, it is necessary to strengthen demand pull and value co creation. Enterprises should establish a continuous interaction mechanism with consumers, integrate consumer feedback into the product design and improvement process, and achieve demand-oriented flexible production. Cultivate a new manufacturing model centered on consumer experience, enhance consumer participation and sense of gain, and improve brand loyalty through innovative models such as personalized customization and collaborative design. In policy-making, attention should also be paid to the protection of consumer rights, while promoting the flow and utilization of data, improving privacy protection mechanisms, and building a secure and trustworthy digital environment.
