The flag raising ceremony for the Hong Kong delegation of the 12th National Paralympic Games and the 9th Special Olympics was held in Hong Kong on the 24th. The flag presentation ceremony was held at Tiu Keng Leng Sports Centre, where Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam handed over a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region flag to the head of the delegation, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Lo Suk pui. During the ceremony, Luo Shupei stated that this is the eighth time the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has participated in the Paralympic Games and the sixth time it has participated in the Special Olympics. The Hong Kong delegation sent over 420 people, making it the largest in scale and participating in the most projects, including over 280 athletes and about 140 team members and medical staff. They will compete in 14 Paralympic Games events, 4 Paralympic Games public events, and 7 Special Olympics events. Luo Shupei stated that the Paralympic Games is a stage for athletes to showcase their perseverance and resilience, a national event that everyone can personally support, and an important opportunity to deepen patriotism and consolidate national identity. This year's Paralympic Games will be held from December 8th to 15th in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, with a total of 46 events, including 37 Paralympic Games and 9 Special Olympics events.
