The 11 day "Paper Language Millennium · Artistic Charm Chapter - International Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Paper Art (Switzerland Station)" officially opened on the 21st at the Bern Chinese Cultural Center in Switzerland. More than 80 Chinese culture enthusiasts and overseas Chinese from Switzerland, France, Germany, and other countries experienced the beauty of modern Chinese paper art on site. This exhibition presents more than 80 paper-based art works created by 52 Chinese artists, covering multiple types such as ink wash, rubbing, Paper Cuttings, etc., and focuses on the contemporary exploration of Chinese artists with "paper" as the core medium. Xiao Huang, the curator of this exhibition and a specially appointed expert of China Culture Media Group, stated that the exhibition aims to showcase the regenerative power, openness, and cross-cultural communication value of Chinese culture in the global context through the recreation of traditional materials by contemporary art. Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland Qian Minjian said in his speech that paper is one of the witnesses to the exchange of Chinese and Western civilizations. The paper-making technique originating from China was introduced to Europe in the 8th century, providing an economical and convenient writing material, sparking a revolution in the carrier of human writing. For example, Paper Cuttings, an ancient folk art in Asia, is also regarded as a treasure of folk art in Switzerland. Cui Ke, director of the Bern Chinese Cultural Center, said that these exhibits are not only outstanding representatives of contemporary Chinese paper art, but also vivid displays of China's profound cultural heritage. "Paper has become an important bridge connecting the soul and art. Swiss artist Valerie Kessler said, "The quality of this exhibition is excellent, which has inspired me a lot. Today's exhibition is only held once in Switzerland, so I will cherish it. I really appreciate the techniques of these Chinese artists and the rich and diverse forms of Chinese art." The "Paper Language Millennium · Artistic Charm Huazhang - International Exhibition of Contemporary Paper Art in China" has five stops and has successfully appeared in Bulgaria and the Netherlands. It will also be held in Serbia and Hungary in the near future. (New Society)
