On November 22, the 2025 China 5G+Industrial Internet Conference (hereinafter referred to as the "Conference") opened in Wuhan. As an important platform to promote China's Internet technology innovation and industrial development, the conference focused on cutting-edge technology integration and industrial collaboration, and launched a series of major achievements and featured activities with the theme of "Smart Navigation of the Internet of Everything". Chen Xiaohua, Executive Director of the Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the China Mobile Communications Federation, said in an interview that the deep integration of 5G and industrial Internet will help further improve the resilience and security of the industrial chain, supply chain, and also help promote China's new industrialization to take a solid step, and inject new momentum into the construction of digital China and high-quality economic development. The continuous implementation of relevant support policies "5G+Industrial Internet" refers to the use of the new generation of information and communication technologies represented by 5G to build new infrastructure, application models and industrial ecology that are deeply integrated with the industrial economy. By fully connecting people, machines, objects, systems, etc. through 5G technology, a new manufacturing and service system covering the entire industry chain and value chain is built, providing new ways to achieve digital, networked, and intelligent development of industry and even industry, and helping enterprises achieve cost reduction, quality improvement, efficiency enhancement, green, and safe development. In recent years, China has attached great importance to the development issue of "5G+Industrial Internet", and relevant promotion policies have been implemented continuously. At the national level, in November 2019, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the "5G+Industrial Internet" 512 Project Promotion Plan; In December 2024, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the Implementation Plan for Building the 512 Project of "5G+Industrial Internet"; In October 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other seven departments issued the Implementation Plan for Deepening the Development of Service based Manufacturing Innovation (2025 – 2028), which emphasized that the integration of innovation and large-scale application of "5G+Industrial Internet" should be deepened. At the local level, many cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Jiangsu Province have also introduced relevant policies. For example, the three-year action plan of Jiangsu Province on deepening the intelligent transformation of manufacturing industry, digital transformation and networking connection (2025 – 2027) released in January 2025 proposed to support the construction of a "5G+industrial Internet" integrated application pilot area. Driven by policies, the construction of "5G+Industrial Internet" has achieved fruitful results. According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, during the 14th Five Year Plan period, there were more than 20000 "5G+Industrial Internet" construction projects nationwide; More than 340 influential industrial Internet platforms have been cultivated, more than 100 million sets of key platforms have connected equipment, and nearly 4 million enterprises have been served; Industrial Internet has achieved full coverage of 41 industrial categories; As of the end of September, the total number of 5G base stations reached 4.705 million, a net increase of 455000 from the end of the previous year, accounting for 36.6% of the total number of mobile base stations. Multi point efforts to promote new industrialization "5G+Industrial Internet" are not simple technology superposition, they complement each other and are indispensable. Tian Huimin, a special researcher of the Beijing Reform and Development Research Association, told reporters that, on the one hand, 5G is the key enabling technology for the development of industrial Internet. Its characteristics of low latency, high reliability and wide coverage provide the industrial Internet with unprecedented network connectivity; On the other hand, the industrial Internet is the product of the deep integration of the new generation of information technology and industrial economy. It provides an extremely rich application scenario for 5G, allowing the real value of 5G to be fully released in the real economy. The essence of the integration of 5G and industrial Internet is to use data to drive the deep coordination of production factors, industrial chains and value chains, providing sufficient power for industrial transformation and upgrading and accelerating the cultivation of new quality productivity. Experts interviewed generally believe that "5G+industrial Internet" is constantly promoting new production models and service formats, which is in line with the requirements of solidly promoting new industrialization, and the development is just in time. Talking about the important direction of promoting the development of "5G+industrial Internet", Zhang Xiaorong, president of the Institute of Deep Science and Technology, believes that "5G+industrial Internet" should continue to work in the following three aspects: first, upgrade infrastructure and carry out industrial 5G independent private network pilot; The second is to embrace artificial intelligence technology and create and optimize industry models; Third, continue to deepen the integration of industrial Internet and key industrial chains, develop integration application guidelines by industry, speed up the construction of 5G factories, and strengthen the forward-looking research on the integration of 6G and industry.
