Drone Show Supports the Hong Kong Premiere of Mo Yan's Play 'Crocodile'

2025-11-21

On the evening of the 20th, a drone light show was presented brilliantly over the Wan Chai waterfront in Hong Kong, preheating the first performance of Nobel Prize winner Mo Yan's original play "Crocodile" in Hong Kong. The play will be performed three times in a row at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium in Hong Kong from November 21st to 23rd. At around 7:30 pm on the evening of the 20th, the sky over Victoria Harbour showed the two characters "crocodile" personally inscribed by Mo Yan, the image of "crocodile turning into dragon" in the drama, and the text and images congratulating the successful performance, attracting many citizens to stop and watch. During an on-site interview, Mo Yan stated that the exchange between Hong Kong and mainland literary and artistic workers is becoming increasingly close. The team chose Hong Kong as the venue for overseas premieres precisely because they value its international stage and hope to build a bridge between Chinese literature and the world theater. The director of the drama, Wang Keran, stated that choosing to perform this visual and intellectual feast in Hong Kong is precisely to showcase the innovative vitality of contemporary Chinese drama to the world stage through its international window. The Crocodile "premiered in 2024, using magical realism techniques and the metaphor of" crocodile "to deeply deconstruct human nature and reflect moral dilemmas in real society through absurd plots.
