The heavyweight special exhibition "Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition - Collection of Egyptian Museums" at the Palace Museum in Hong Kong was officially unveiled on the 18th and will be open to the public from November 20th. The exhibition gathers 250 treasures and the latest archaeological discoveries from 7 important museums in Egypt. It is reported that this exhibition is jointly organized by the Palace Museum in Hong Kong and the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt. It is the largest, most comprehensive, and longest lasting exhibition of ancient Egyptian cultural relics in Hong Kong's history. All the ancient Egyptian cultural relics exhibited are exclusively owned by the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt, and many of the treasures are also touring outside Egypt for the first time. This exhibition, which lasts for over 9 months, is divided into 4 main thematic units, featuring over 60 statues of pharaohs and gods, painted inscriptions on stone tablets, mummies, dazzling jewelry, and daily necessities. Chen Zhisi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, stated that the Palace Museum in Hong Kong plays an important role in promoting dialogue among world civilizations, fostering global partnerships, and showcasing top Chinese and world art. Therefore, it is an ideal location for hosting this important exhibition. We eagerly look forward to this collection exhibition attracting and inspiring local residents as well as visitors from around the world. Bahar, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Egypt, stated that through cooperation with the Palace Museum in Hong Kong, we can use the power of cultural heritage to unite people, inspire exchanges, and convey an important message to the world: history is a bridge connecting us. This exhibition is supported by Bank of China (Hong Kong), a strategic partner of the Palace Museum in Hong Kong. Chen Wen, Vice President of Bank of China (Hong Kong), expressed his expectation to continue working with various sectors of society to promote cultural exchanges and support Hong Kong's development as a center for cultural and artistic exchange between China and foreign countries. According to a spokesperson for the Palace Museum in Hong Kong, this exhibition is an important cooperation achievement after the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Palace Museum in Hong Kong and the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt in June this year. In 2026, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, this exhibition confirms the joint commitment of both sides to promoting exchanges between the two ancient civilizations. This exhibition also combines creative design with cutting-edge digital technology, setting up more than 10 original multimedia installations inside and outside the exhibition hall, vividly interpreting the treasures and stories of ancient Egypt. The extension will end on August 31, 2026. (New Society)
