The opening ceremony of the themed special exhibition "Looking Back at the Silk Road, China on Porcelain - Dunhuang in Glaze Colors" was held at the Jiangxi Provincial Art Museum on the 18th. 151 sets of exhibits were showcased, opening a cross temporal dialogue between Dunhuang murals and contemporary ceramic art. It is reported that this exhibition is hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Jiangxi Province, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Gansu Province, and the Dunhuang Research Institute. With Dunhuang art and ceramic culture as the dual main themes, it showcases the cultural heritage and contemporary innovation of the Silk Road through two major sections: "Historical Narrative - Civilization Integration" and a dialogue between tradition and modernity. The exhibition innovatively uses high-temperature colored glaze to solidify and freeze the mottled texture and mysterious colors of Dunhuang murals, achieving the integration of classical aesthetics and modern craftsmanship through the flow and blending of glaze colors. The encounter between ceramics and mineral pigments in wall paintings such as Buddhist image paintings, sutra paintings, Buddhist story paintings, and decorative patterns has promoted multiple breakthroughs in Dunhuang art in terms of visual texture, creative medium, and artistic language. It is worth noting that the exhibition begins with the reproduction of colored sculptures from Cave 328 of Mogao Grottoes, presenting a grotto art that integrates traditional Chinese painting and sculpture techniques with aesthetic taste. In the holy realm of Buddha with lowered eyebrows, Bodhisattva smiling, and flying clothes, the audience can immerse themselves in the magnificence and splendor of Dunhuang art. At the exhibition site, a blue and white large plate with a diameter of 248 centimeters attracted many visitors to stop. This exhibit uses blue and white porcelain craftsmanship to connect the trade scenes of the world's eight major porcelain producing regions, reproducing the complete process of Jingdezhen porcelain from production to export overseas, highlighting the global significance of ceramics as a medium of civilization.
