The 2025 "Chinese Opera Performance Season" and the Chinese Opera International Exhibition Series of Activities will come to an end on the evening of the 15th. The Huai Opera "Zhao Wuniang" brought by the Yancheng Huai Opera Troupe was performed at the Mutter Theater in Vienna, Austria, and received a warm response. Huai Opera originated in the Yanfu area of Jiangsu Province, with a history of more than 200 years. It is known for its simple and natural performances and high pitched and gentle singing style. In 2008, it was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. The Huai Opera "Zhao Wuniang" tells the tragic experience of an ancient woman named Zhao Wuniang who went to the capital to search for her husband after her in laws passed away, and also depicts the ups and downs of her husband Cai Boge's career. After the performance, warm applause erupted in the theater, and the audience expressed their gratitude to the actors on stage and all the wonderful performances of this season. The audience reluctantly stayed in the theater to communicate with the actors. Elk Hesse, the director of the Mute Theater, said in his speech before the performance that the "Chinese Opera Performance Season" provides people with the opportunity to watch and learn about many distinctive Chinese operas, promoting cultural exchanges between Austria and China. Ernst Waller, Honorary President of the European Association for International Cultural Exchange and Cooperation, said that the entire performance season was very constructive and sustainable, touching the hearts of many European audiences. Song Chen, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Opera Research Association, stated that the performance activities have built a bridge for artistic and cultural exchanges between China and Europe, and he looks forward to introducing more excellent traditional Chinese culture to Europe in the future. This performance season is hosted by China Opera Research Association and (Europe) International Association for Cultural Exchange and Cooperation, and organized by the Art Development Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
