Guidelines for Pricing of Vascular and Lymphatic System Medical Services Released

2025-11-05

The vascular and lymphatic systems are important circulatory systems that maintain normal physiological functions in the human body. On November 4th, the National Healthcare Security Administration released the "Guidelines for the Establishment of Price Projects for Vascular and Lymphatic System Medical Services (Trial)", which standardized and integrated the original vascular and lymphatic system price projects into 116 items, with 9 additional items and 1 expansion item. The national organization has compiled a project proposal guide to standardize the pricing items of medical services, in order to make the pricing items better priced, executed, and evaluated, and better adapt to the needs of clinical diagnosis and treatment and price management. Based on the differences in blood vessels, this project categorizes and sets price items for arteries into major arteries, brachiocephalic arteries, limb arteries, and visceral arteries, and sets corresponding price items for stent placement fees to enhance the compatibility of price items. The project is guided by clinical practice to differentiate price levels, reflecting differences in surgical technique difficulty through distinguishing between routine and complex situations, and establishing additional charges. The project also supports the clinical application of new products and technologies, such as vascular surgery where the risk is concentrated on thrombus or plaque debris shedding, which may block distal blood vessels with blood flow, leading to a series of serious complications such as myocardial infarction and cerebral infarction. To prevent the risks of such surgeries, vascular protection devices have emerged. The project proposal guidelines separate the placement and removal of vascular protection devices, and medical institutions can charge according to regulations when providing vascular protection services during surgery. At the same time, the price items are not bound to specific types of protective devices such as filters and filters, guiding enterprises to develop more vascular protection device products that meet clinical needs through technological innovation. Next, the National Healthcare Security Administration will accelerate guidance for provinces to implement the pricing guidelines for vascular and lymphatic system medical services, and determine the price level reasonably based on the principles of patient affordability, medical insurance fund affordability, and sustainable development of medical institutions, combined with actual conditions.
