The "New Power of Intangible Cultural Heritage - Humanistic Bay Area · Brilliant Intangible Cultural Heritage: Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Intangible Cultural Heritage Collection" opened on November 1st at the Macau Fortress Park. This event is hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government Bureau of Culture. It features themed exhibitions, interactive skills displays, experiential workshops, and sales of non heritage cultural and creative products. Among them, the "New Power of Intangible Cultural Heritage" special exhibition will be exhibited at the Macau Museum from November 2 to March 15, 2026, with four themes: "Lingnan Color Charm", "Geometric Creation", "Music and Play", and "Beyond the Artistic conception". It showcases more than 50 representative intangible cultural heritages in the Greater Bay Area, such as Guangdong embroidery, colorful embroidery (Qilin production), and Guangcai porcelain firing techniques, presenting the unique charm of intangible cultural heritage in the three regions in a three-dimensional manner. The interactive display of skills includes Foshan woodblock New Year paintings, Saigon Kengkou Hakka Kirin dance, Portuguese tile painting production techniques, etc. At the opening ceremony, Portuguese folk dance, Shatoujiao fish lantern dance, and Sai Kung Kengkou Hakka dance Kirin made their debut as performance programs, winning rounds of applause. The Traditional Hakka Kirin Association from Kengkou District, Sai Kung, is promoting Kirin dancing in Macau for the first time. They have specially arranged an experience session to teach citizens and tourists how to dance Kirin heads step by step. Two masters, Liu Xinglai and Hong Makun, said that they hope this event can help more people get to know and understand the Qilin Dance, which is a treasure of China and has valuable connotations. The graduation ceremony of the "Macao Intangible Cultural Heritage New Generation Research and Training Program 2025" was also held on site. The research and training program is a cultural cooperation project between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. 30 students have conducted theoretical studies and field investigations in Macau, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong, and exchanged experiences with inheritors of intangible cultural heritage in Guangdong and Hong Kong. They will also participate in the interactive display of their skills in this event. (New Society)
