The statement stated that the new agreement retains the key elements that drive the success of the cooperation between the two parties, namely that OpenAI remains Microsoft's cutting-edge model partner, and Microsoft will continue to have exclusive intellectual property and exclusive rights to the Azure application programming interface (API) of the cloud platform until General Artificial Intelligence (AGI) is implemented. According to the agreement, once OpenAI announces the implementation of general artificial intelligence, it will be verified by an independent expert committee. The agreement also stipulates that Microsoft's intellectual property rights do not include OpenAI's consumer hardware. OpenAI can collaborate with third parties to develop certain products. Meanwhile, Microsoft can also independently or collaborate with third parties to develop general artificial intelligence. The revenue sharing agreement between the two parties will continue until the independent expert committee verifies the general artificial intelligence.
