On October 29th, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and the China Logistics Information Center released data showing that in the first three quarters, the total amount of social logistics in China was 263.2 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year at comparable prices, with a growth rate 0.3 percentage points lower than the first half of the year. By quarter, the first, second, and third quarters saw growth of 5.7%, 5.5%, and 5.2% respectively. Although the growth rate of logistics demand in each quarter showed a slight decline, it maintained a relatively fast growth rate of over 5%. Meng Yuan, Director of Logistics Information at China Logistics Information Center, stated in an interview with reporters that in the first three quarters of 2025, China's logistics operation will show a good development trend of "steady progress and improved quality and efficiency". The total amount of social logistics maintains stable growth, and the demand structure continues to optimize and upgrade. The logistics supply side is working together, with diversified development in segmented fields, and the overall industry prosperity level is improving. The total demand for logistics is steadily increasing during the critical period of economic structural adjustment. The social logistics total shows that the basic demand for industrial logistics remains stable, international logistics demand is under pressure and rebounding, the vitality of demand for units, residents, and commercial logistics continues to increase, and the demand for high-end and green logistics is growing strongly. Data shows that the total logistics volume of industrial products in the first three quarters increased by 5.6% year-on-year, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from the first half of the year. The contribution rate to the growth of social logistics volume reached 81%, and the core pillar position of logistics demand in the industrial sector continues to consolidate. From the perspective of the industry, over 90% of the logistics demand related to the industry maintains resilient growth, and the driving effect of upgrading the field is particularly evident. Imported logistics is moving forward under complex external environments, showing a trend of recovery in operation. The total import logistics volume in the first three quarters decreased by 1.0% year-on-year, narrowing the decline by 2 percentage points compared to the first half of the year; In the third quarter, based on the improvement in the second quarter, there was a further rebound, with a year-on-year growth rate accelerating to 3%. The sources of growth momentum became more diversified, and the characteristics of structural optimization became more obvious. Under the continuous promotion of policies to expand domestic demand and promote consumption, the potential for logistics demand related to units and residents has been released in an orderly manner. The total logistics volume of goods between units and residents in the first three quarters increased by 6.6% year-on-year, and in the third quarter, it increased by 8.0% year-on-year, which is 1.8 percentage points faster than the second quarter, continuing the rapid growth momentum. Meng Yuan analyzed that on the one hand, the demand for new online consumer logistics is accelerating. Since entering the third quarter, the pace has been accelerating month by month, with online shopping categories such as cold chain fresh food, household appliance 3C, cultural tourism and outdoor, and beauty and clothing maintaining high popularity. Emerging consumption models such as online and e-commerce continue to strengthen their driving effect on logistics for units and residents; On the other hand, the demand for emerging commercial logistics in offline entities is steadily increasing, while the logistics demand in emerging retail fields such as warehousing member stores and collection stores remains at double-digit growth. In addition, the total logistics volume of renewable resources in the first three quarters increased by 15% year-on-year, and the vitality of the circular economy continued to strengthen, with strong demand for related recycling, transportation, and processing logistics. Meng Yuan stated that the logistics demand generated by the new quality productivity field is growing strongly, and the expansion trend in areas such as green and low-carbon, high-end manufacturing, and consumption upgrading is evident. The demand for green logistics is growing rapidly, and the fields of low-carbon and renewable resource recycling in green logistics continue to grow rapidly. The scale of logistics supply is steadily expanding. Data shows that in terms of market size, the total revenue of the logistics industry in the first three quarters was 10.5 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%, with a growth rate 0.3 percentage points lower than the first half of the year. From the perspective of the business trend, the average prosperity index of the logistics industry in the first three quarters was 50.6%. In September, the index further rebounded to 51.2%, especially the key leading indicator new order index reached 53.3%, which has maintained a prosperous operation for 8 consecutive months, indicating that the current logistics activity is relatively active. In Meng Yuan's view, in the first three quarters, the upgrading of industrial quality released strong momentum, driving accelerated changes in the logistics supply side. Most of the sub sectors operated steadily and positively, and the logistics supply showed a good pattern of coordinated expansion of scale and structural upgrading. In the service sector, the circulation of logistics supply system is becoming more smooth, and multi-dimensional physical quantity indicators are steadily increasing, demonstrating strong logistics supply capabilities. The volume of railway and road transportation business is steadily increasing, and the demand for air logistics is particularly growing. Its total business volume index and new order index have both achieved month on month growth, and the utilization rate of belly warehouses remains high. The transformation and upgrading of traditional logistics and the leading emerging business models are parallel, and the resilience of cross-border logistics is enhanced, jointly promoting the steady progress of modern logistics towards high-quality development. ”Meng Yuan stated. Despite facing complex external environments, logistics micro entities demonstrate strong resilience. Key survey data shows that the logistics business revenue of key logistics enterprises in the first three quarters increased by 4.5% year-on-year, with a growth rate 0.1 percentage points higher than the previous eight months, indicating a trend towards active logistics business activities. While steadily expanding its revenue scale, the company continues to promote refined operations and cost control. The cost per 100 yuan of operating revenue is 95.5 yuan, a decrease of 0.2 yuan from the first half of the year. The revenue profit margin has rebounded to 3.3%, showing a slight improvement compared to the previous period. The growth momentum of sub sectors such as express delivery and cross-border logistics is particularly evident. Meng Yuan stated that overall, driven by the traditional peak season and consumption promotion policies, the operating conditions of logistics enterprises are showing a stable development trend of marginal recovery and improvement. Looking ahead, Meng Yuan believes that in the fourth quarter, with the traditional peak season in areas such as shipping, e-commerce, express delivery, and logistics, logistics demand is expected to stabilize and rebound. In addition, the recent National Standing Committee has made a series of clear deployments to continuously promote logistics cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency enhancement. Modern logistics will continue to adhere to the direction of high-quality development, driven by technological innovation, with cost reduction and efficiency enhancement as the goal, and serving the real economy as the foundation. It will accelerate the transformation of logistics from "scale expansion" to "quality and efficiency upgrading", and make greater contributions to building a new development pattern and promoting high-quality development.
