The 15th National Games (referred to as the "15th National Games") officially opened on November 9th in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen will hold the torch relay simultaneously on November 2nd. In Hong Kong, 50 torchbearers will depart from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Headquarters, cross Victoria Harbour, and end at Kai Tak Sports Park. Yang Deqiang, Director of the Hong Kong Regional Coordination Office for the 15th National Games, introduced at a press conference on the 27th that the torch relay in Hong Kong began at 9:30 am on November 2nd, with a total length of about 10 kilometers, including about 4 kilometers passed by running. The entire event is expected to be completed within 2 hours and will pass through several well-known landmarks in Hong Kong. As for the specific route, the torch relay starts from the headquarters of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, passes through Tima Park, along Central and Wanchai Seashore, passes through the Monument of Hong Kong's Return to the Motherland, Golden Bauhinia Square, and then takes a boat across Victoria Harbor at Wanchai Wharf to Tsim Sha Tsui, and then runs to Tsim Sha Tsui on the coast, boards a Kaipeng bus to the end point - Kai Tak Sports Park, where the last torchbearer lights the brazier and carries out the closing ceremony. Yang Deqiang stated that the torch relay route in Hong Kong showcases the different aspects and cultural and sports characteristics of Hong Kong, as well as the charm of Hong Kong as an international event capital. In the process of the torch relay, the historic ferries connect the routes between the two sides of Victoria and Hong Kong, highlighting the cultural characteristics of the integration of the old and the new in Hong Kong. The torch relay passes through the Monument of Hong Kong's Return to the Motherland and Golden Bauhinia Square, marking the great significance of hosting the National Games for Hong Kong. Yang Deqiang introduced that in terms of torchbearers, there are a total of 50 torchbearers for the Hong Kong leg of the torch relay, with 42 nominated by Hong Kong and the remaining 8 provided by the 15th National Games Organizing Committee. About half of the 42 torchbearers are representatives from the sports industry, about 30% are representatives from sponsoring organizations, and the rest include volunteer representatives, youth, people with disabilities, and ethnic minorities.
