Let 'movie+' leverage the consumer market

Recently, a batch of high-quality movies have been released intensively. According to Lighthouse Professional Edition data, from October 13th to 19th, the box office of movies reached 262 million yuan, with unique content such as "Life on the Waves" and "Assassination of the Novelist 2" being widely popular. Movies are an important component of cultural consumption, which can drive the development of related service consumption such as catering, transportation, shopping, and tourism, and play a positive role in expanding consumption and promoting economic development. Currently, China's film industry is transitioning from a single box office economy to a diversified consumer ecosystem. Not long ago, the National Film Administration and the Ministry of Commerce jointly launched the "Follow the Movies to Taste Food", "Follow the Movies to Travel", and "China Film Consumption Year" activities, providing a platform for the integration of film, catering, cultural tourism and other industries. Many places use movie ticket stubs as a link to connect all consumption scenarios such as food, accommodation, transportation, travel, shopping, and entertainment. For example, Beijing, Jiangsu and other places have launched "movie+food" to promote consumption subsidies; Inner Mongolia has launched a "one ticket, multiple uses" mutual recognition and reciprocity mechanism, covering major cinemas, scenic theater tickets, and Inner Mongolia Football Super League, achieving cross-border linkage between cultural consumption and sports consumption; Henan, Chongqing, Yunnan and other places have launched the welfare of enjoying hotel accommodation discounts with movie tickets; Nanxun, Huzhou, Zhejiang Province has launched a merchant discount promotion with movie ticket stubs. With the implementation of consumer promotion policies, the role of movies in boosting consumption in China will become more prominent. Next, we should further strengthen the role of movies in stimulating consumption, and make efforts to promote the integration and development of movies and offline consumption formats, in order to better meet the quality of life needs of the general public. Strengthen the integration and development with offline consumer formats. Encourage places with conditions to organically combine cinemas with boutique hotels, art galleries, concert venues and other formats, create destination style cultural consumption complexes, and attract consumers to stay overnight and experience in depth. Guiding large-scale commercial complexes to plan movie themed blocks, in addition to setting up cinemas, can also introduce movie themed restaurants, flagship stores of movie related products, movie cafes, movie bookstores, etc., to enrich the combination of consumer formats. Encourage top cinemas, chain restaurants, scenic spots, and retail brands to form cross industry alliances and promote the movie consumption one card or points exchange program. Explore the diversified development of film and television IP. Encourage local intangible cultural heritage enterprises, time-honored brand enterprises, and popular movie IPs to launch cross-border joint products and develop handmade experience activities for replicating movie props at filming locations. Guide film groups to strengthen cooperation with cultural and tourism enterprises, catering enterprises, etc., focus on popular movie IPs, create urban roaming scripts, develop movie themed food maps, launch tourism routes related to popular movie locations, and cultivate a group of consumer brands with cultural connotations and regional characteristics. Create more diverse movie themed activities to promote consumption. Guide enterprises to plan movie themed carnivals, hold movie premiere events, and use digital technology to enrich immersive movie experiences. Support regions with conditions to hold themed activities such as film culture festivals, film food festivals, film tourism festivals, film music festivals, and film costume shows, distribute consumer vouchers for the benefit of the people, and stimulate residents' willingness to consume.
