Guanting Reservoir welcomes' distinguished guests'! 33 globally critically endangered species of blue headed diving ducks have appeared

On October 27th, patrol members of the Beijing Black Panther Wildlife Conservation Station observed 33 blue headed diving ducks flying to Guanting Reservoir. The green headed diving duck has extremely high requirements for its habitat environment, especially emphasizing water quality. It often inhabits lakes, ponds, and river areas with gentle water flow and abundant aquatic plants. The blue headed diving duck is a national first-class protected animal and also a critically endangered species worldwide. The recorded population of blue headed diving ducks in China in 2025 is 2555. (New Society)
