IMF raises Asia Pacific economic growth forecast for 2025

2025-10-27

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) released its latest Asia Pacific Economic Outlook report in Hong Kong on the 24th, predicting an economic growth rate of 4.5% in the region by 2025, which is 0.6 percentage points higher than the April forecast. The report points out that in the first half of 2025, the economic growth in the Asia Pacific region will benefit from strong exports and a prosperous technology cycle. Against the backdrop of a loose global financial environment and the depreciation of the US dollar, the loose monetary and fiscal policies in the Asia Pacific region further support domestic demand. From an upward perspective, the current investment boom driven by artificial intelligence may provide a stronger boost to exports, investment, and productivity in the region than expected. The IMF stated that Asia will continue to be the most important engine of global growth, contributing approximately 60% to global growth in the next two years. (New Society)
