In August of this year, the "Genius Mom Friendship Workshop" was officially unveiled in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and the intangible cultural heritage skills training for Chinese and elderly women was also held simultaneously. Zhan Shameng Senhala, Deputy Director of the Lao Women's Training Center, recently said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that this project, jointly built by the China Women's Development Foundation and the Lao Women's Training Center, has brought new opportunities for Laotian women to improve their skills and increase their employment income. The 'Genius Mom Friendship Workshop' will transform Chinese experience into normalized training resources, significantly enhancing the ability of Laotian women to participate in socio-economic development. Zhan Shameng stated that the current top concern of the Lao Women's Federation is how to help impoverished women across the country lift themselves out of poverty and ensure stable employment and income for women of all ethnic groups. International cooperation and external support are important ways to address these issues, and "China's experience and support in women's development are particularly valuable to us. At the August training class, students from all over Laos gathered together to listen to traditional handicrafts such as bamboo weaving and rattan weaving taught by Chinese teachers. The training covers the entire process from raw material processing to finished product production, including bamboo selection, cutting, scraping, polishing, and how to carry out disinfection treatment. In just three days of training, the students successfully mastered the production methods of practical items such as bamboo and rattan trays and paper boxes. The students' craftsmanship comes with a unique style of Laotian culture, but lacks advanced technical support and modern innovative concepts. ”Zhan Shameng said, "Hand in hand teaching of intangible cultural heritage inheritors from Guangxi and Guizhou, China not only brings unique weaving techniques with Chinese cultural characteristics, but also guides students to integrate diverse cultures and modern design concepts. These detailed knowledge can ensure the quality of bamboo strips and make handicrafts more durable and exquisite. ”Bang Wutifengsai, who participated in the training, told reporters that she learned how to weave bamboo and rattan trays, flower pots, and pen boxes during the training. "I will teach the skills and knowledge learned from Chinese teachers to my sisters in Laos to help them improve their skills and increase their income. ”Bang Wutifengsai said, "I hope we can get high-quality training opportunities from Chinese sisters in the future." In addition to short-term skills teaching, China and Laos both focus on long-term development. With the support of the China Women's Development Foundation and the Lao Women's Federation, the "Genius Mom" project handicraft exhibition hall located in Vientiane has been comprehensively upgraded, becoming more standardized, beautiful, and incorporating cultural elements from both China and Laos. This exhibition hall is not only a platform for the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, but also a window for Laotian women to exchange experiences and promote works. ”Zhan Shameng said that the trainees will bring the knowledge learned from the training back to the community and pass it on to more sisters to help community women increase their income together. The organizers and participants of this training believe that the "Genius Mom Friendship Workshop" is not only a link for cultural exchange between Chinese and elderly women, but also a vivid practice for building a community with a shared future between the two countries. They all expressed their expectation for long-term cooperation with China to build more industrial empowerment platforms for women in both countries. (New Society)
