The Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation recently issued the "Guidelines for the Management of Expired Food for Rural Food Operators" and the "Risk Warning for Inventory Management of Important Consumption Nodes of Rural Food Operating Units" to strengthen the management of expired food and prevent the risk of food expiration in advance. Focusing on issues such as unclear definition and non-standard management of expired food, the "Work Guidelines" clarify that the deadline for approaching the shelf life of food can be set by food operators themselves; You can also refer to the following standards - for food with a shelf life of more than one year (including one year), 45 days before the expiration date; For food with a shelf life of more than 10 days but less than 1 year, the remaining shelf life of expired food shall not be less than one tenth of the shelf life; Food with a shelf life of less than 10 days (excluding 10 days), or food that is not marked with a shelf life according to relevant national standards, shall not have a near shelf life. It is understood that the "Work Guidelines" and "Risk Warning" guide rural food operators to strengthen the management of expired food and prevent the risk of food expiration in advance by setting up special sales areas for expired food, affixing exclusive labels, regularly tallying goods, and timely removing expired food from shelves; Emphasize that food operators shall not conceal the production date and shelf life of food by covering up, blurring, or other means; It is strictly prohibited to sell after changing the packaging, production date, and shelf life. The Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation will continue to promote rural food operators to fulfill their main responsibilities, prevent expired and spoiled unqualified food from entering the market from the source, and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers. ”Zhao Jinhui, Deputy Director of the Food Business Safety Supervision and Management Department of the Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation, stated that in the future, we will continue to strengthen the supervision of rural food markets, strictly investigate and punish illegal and irregular behaviors in accordance with the law, and effectively purify the rural food market environment.
