The passionate speech ignited the entire audience, the lively rhythm of the music, and the art exhibition with ethnic characteristics made people linger and forget to leave... From October 17th to 19th local time, the first International Granma Uprising Festival was held at the Vedado Cultural Station Exhibition Hall located in Havana, the capital of Cuba, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Communist Party's central organ newspaper Granma and the Cuban youth newspaper Uprising Youth. Diaz Canel, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba, attended the opening ceremony of the event. More than 100 media, cultural, and research institution representatives from various sectors in Cuba and 36 countries around the world gathered together to have in-depth exchanges on topics such as opportunities and challenges in the new media era, and jointly explore how to better convey the voice of the global South. Several Cuban media outlets emphasized the importance of embracing new media and actively utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence. According to Jorky Sanchez, the president of the Granma newspaper, the daily circulation of the paper version of the newspaper is about 300000 copies, and more and more young people are reading this 60 year old newspaper through new media channels. Haidar Ali, Chairman of the Chedi Jagan Research Center in Guyana, stated in an interview with our reporter that while the global South continues to rise in the economic and political fields, issues such as information asymmetry in the international communication landscape remain prominent. The inequality of discourse power is a key reason for misunderstandings and estrangement. Media in the global South must break through communication barriers and promote the construction of a genuine, diverse, and mutually understanding international communication ecosystem. "Jos é Luis Sentilla, President of the Spanish Communist Party, believes that the international community must promote the establishment of a multipolar order based on cooperation and justice. "The positions and propositions represented by the global South deserve more attention and listening from the international community. 35 media outlets from multiple countries have set up special booths in the exhibition hall to systematically showcase their respective communication concepts and cultural products. The People's Daily booth presented a number of achievements, including international communication capacity building, media integration and development, and the construction of the "the Belt and Road" News Cooperation Alliance, attracting the attention and interaction of many participants in the form of rich content and innovation. Giulio Kinapi, a researcher at the Italian Eurasian Mediterranean Research Center, stopped in front of the People's Daily exhibition and carefully read the content of the display board. "The media of all countries should strengthen information exchange and content sharing to eliminate misunderstandings and promote people to people connections." The young scholar told our reporter that he had witnessed in many countries various practical measures under the framework of high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" to improve local people's well-being. The media plays an indispensable role in building a better world. Through objective and in-depth reporting, it conveys true stories to the world, helps to gather more consensus, and promotes joint action
