Tidal toilets solve the difficulty of using toilets in scenic areas | The park is like this

2025-10-22

In May of this year, the news of the implementation of "tidal toilets" in the Heidushan Scenic Area in Qinghai Province sparked a wave of discussion on online platforms. According to the relevant person in charge of the Culture, Sports, Tourism, Radio and Television Bureau of Mangya City, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, during the peak tourist season from July to August, the Heidushan Scenic Area in Mangya City uses "tidal toilets" from 11am to 3pm every day. When staff members are dispatched by the scenic area and find that the queue for women's toilets is long, they dynamically allocate some male toilet seats to women's toilet seats to reduce the waiting time for female tourists. Traditional public restrooms have fixed male and female partitions, and even if women line up in long queues, there are still plenty of male restroom seats available, leaving female tourists helpless. The core of tidal public toilets lies in their flexibility. It usually has several "gender neutral universal toilet seats", which can be dynamically switched in usage permissions based on real-time crowd flow through movable signs or locked sliding doors. The method is simple and the investment is not large, but the effect is very obvious. According to the monitoring of the scenic area, after the "tidal toilet" was put into use, the waiting time for women to use the toilet during peak hours was reduced from more than 30 minutes to less than 10 minutes.
