The 3rd International Air Transport Association World Sustainable Development Conference was held in Hong Kong on the 21st to explore how to jointly promote the achievement of the aviation industry's net zero carbon emissions target by 2050. Chen Meibao, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, stated in her speech that the government will spare no effort to actively promote the green and low-carbon transformation of the aviation industry. She emphasized that Hong Kong is willing to work together with the International Air Transport Association to contribute to the global aviation industry's low-carbon and zero carbon development, and to leverage Hong Kong's influence in this process. Cathay Pacific CEO Lin Shaobo stated that Cathay Pacific is promoting carbon reduction from various aspects, including introducing new models with higher fuel efficiency, updating and expanding its fleet, using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and reducing the use of disposable plastic products in operations to lower overall carbon emissions.
