Recently, the first Confucius Institute in Algeria held its unveiling ceremony in the capital city of Algiers. It is reported that this Confucius Institute is jointly established by Northwest Normal University of China and the Second University of Algiers. It is committed to promoting language and cultural exchange and friendly cooperation between China and Algeria by providing high-quality Chinese teaching, organizing Chinese proficiency exams, conducting cultural exchange activities, and assisting students in applying for study abroad in China. Camille Badari, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Afghanistan, said at the ceremony that the Confucius Institute's visit to Afghanistan will further promote pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in education, scientific research, and technology, and contribute to bilateral friendship. Chinese Ambassador to Algeria Dong Guangli stated that the official establishment of Confucius Institute in Algeria is an important milestone in the history of education cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and Algeria. He hopes that Confucius Institute can fully play its role as a language and cultural platform, so that the traditional friendship between the two countries can be revitalized among the younger generation, injecting wisdom and momentum into the development of bilateral relations. On that day, the Chinese Department of the Second University of Algiers and the Art Troupe of Northwest Normal University also performed poetry recitation, ethnic dance, and calligraphy exhibition.
