A woman played multiple roles such as "deputy director of the police station", "police officer", and "street worker", weaving a scam based on her fictional identity. After serving her sentence, she still did not repent. Recently, the Kuancheng District People's Court in Changchun City, Jilin Province, concluded a case of impersonating a police officer to commit fraud. The defendant Wang (female) was sentenced to one year and ten months in prison for the crime of fraud and was ordered to compensate the victim Pan for economic losses of 19700 yuan. During his time studying at a certain school, Wang registered multiple social media accounts and disguised himself as a principal, senior sister, and others to defraud his classmates of money under the pretext of "the school collecting various fees". He was ultimately sentenced by the court for the crime of fraud. At the end of 2024, Wang, who had recently been released from prison, once again had ulterior motives while staying at the hotel run by the victim Pan. After moving in, she falsely claimed to be interning at a police station and learned that Pan had a case pending in a court, so she decided to commit fraud as a "public official". In order to make the scam realistic, Wang carefully built a "character matrix": first, he registered a social media account to impersonate the deputy director of a certain police station, added Pan as a friend under the pretext of "being able to help communicate cases", and also periodically shared downloaded pictures online and fabricated daily work of the police station; Subsequently, he registered multiple accounts and played roles such as "wife of the deputy director" and "police officer of the police station", gradually making Pan firmly believe in his identity as the "deputy director". After gaining trust, Wang repeatedly demanded money from Pan under the names of "handling cases requires handling" and "paying litigation fees on behalf of others", and accumulated a total of 19700 yuan in fraud. Pan verified with the police station and found that there was no such person. He immediately reported the case to the public security organ, and Wang was quickly arrested. After trial, the Kuancheng Court found that the defendant Wang impersonated a police officer to commit fraud, and his behavior constituted the crime of swindling. Based on the facts, nature, circumstances, and degree of harm to society of Wang's crime, the court has made the above judgment in accordance with the law. (New Society)
