On the 11th, the Maritime and Water Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region held the launch ceremony of the "2025 Sailing Maritime Festival" and the opening ceremony of the "Watch for a Century" special exhibition in front of the A-Ma Temple. Through various activities, it promoted Macao's maritime professional work, maritime safety knowledge, and maritime history and culture to the public, attracting many citizens and tourists to participate. Huang Suiwen, Director of the Maritime and Water Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region, stated that the Maritime Festival and special exhibitions provide a comprehensive maritime knowledge experience, introducing the professional work of the maritime department from different perspectives, helping the public learn maritime safety knowledge, and experience Macao's unique maritime culture. At the event site, the highlight of the Maritime Festival, "Maritime Fun Day," features multiple experiential activities, interactive games, and workshops with maritime safety as the theme. The tugboat "Dongwangyang" and the hydrological survey ship "Hydrologic 5" are open to the public for the first time, and citizens and tourists can board and visit the ship's equipment and operation. The 'Maritime Deep Tour' will be held for two consecutive weekends. Under the guidance of professional personnel, tourists can take a boat out to sea to gain a firsthand understanding of the situation in Macau's waters and the daily work of maritime personnel. The Dongwangyang Lighthouse and Navigation School will be open simultaneously for two consecutive weekends starting from the 11th. The Navigation School will have a teaching aids exhibition, knot workshop, and maritime book exploration workshop. The "Watch for a Century" special exhibition will be extended until June 8, 2026. The exhibition will celebrate the 160th anniversary of the Oriental Lighthouse and the 10th anniversary of maritime management. With time as the axis, it will systematically review the evolution of modern maritime management, surveying, nautical charts, and navigation equipment in Macau, as well as the development history and literature of the Oriental Lighthouse from ancient times to the present.
