Contribute China's strength to the development of global women's cause

Women are an important force driving the progress of human society, and promoting global gender equality and achieving comprehensive development of women are important goals for building and sharing a better world. In recent years, while achieving high-quality development of its own women's cause, China has always taken on the responsibility of a responsible major country to deepen South South cooperation, enhance North South dialogue, increase support for women's cause in developing countries, actively create an international environment conducive to women's development through implementing livelihood projects, strengthening capacity building, participating in international peacekeeping and other actions, and make important contributions to the global women's cause. The livelihood project and the improvement of women's living environment have achieved our dream through the use of mushroom grass. ”Last June, at the 9th Global Review Conference on Aid for Trade under the theme of "Food Security" at the World Trade Organization, Seruwaya Kabubu from Fiji passionately told the story of how Chinese mushroom plants changed the fate of her and local women. Once, Kabucabu and the villagers could only rely on the weather to make a living. After Chinese experts introduced mushroom and grass cultivation techniques, her family's income significantly increased. Under the leadership of Kabubu, more than 20 local women also joined this project, taking the first step towards economic self-reliance. She was also elected as the president of the Fiji Mushroom Growers Association. Through mushroom and grass project assistance and technical training, China has helped women in over 100 countries achieve employment worldwide. Lin Dongmei, the daughter of Lin Zhanxi, known as the "Father of Mushroom Grass," has traveled to Africa, Oceania, and other places multiple times to teach mushroom grass techniques step by step. In the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea, with the help of Lin Dongmei, Ferreda Kolarom has transformed from a poor farmer woman who relies on selling wild vegetables to subsidize her family to a "soil expert" who is proficient in the entire process of mushroom and grass planting and processing. Kolarom founded his own mushroom farm and, together with Chinese experts, trained 1500 local women, youth, and people with disabilities, transforming the technological dividend from "benefiting one household" to "getting rich together". Women harvest not only mushrooms, but also rely on their technical skills to earn a living. In the process of assisting developing countries, I have encountered many women like Kolarom, "said Lin Dongmei." Through mushroom and grass technology empowerment, many unemployed and disabled women have grown into presidents, entrepreneurs, and technology personnel. "From implementing livelihood projects such as the" Maternal and Child Health Project "and the" Happy Campus Project, "to supporting women's participation in agricultural technology application and industrial chain development in Southeast Asian countries through the Lancang Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, to using the Global Development and South South Cooperation Fund to carry out women's field projects in more than 20 countries... China has taken a series of practical measures to actively help developing countries improve the living and development environment for women and support them to achieve self-reliance and self-improvement. In August, the "Genius Mom Friendship Workshop" in Vientiane, Laos was filled with warmth and enthusiasm for capacity building and activating women's development potential. 16 local women gathered around several Chinese teachers to learn manual weaving skills. Fingers fly around, and ordinary bamboo strips turn into exquisite trays that combine practicality and aesthetics. When holding the weaving knife for the first time, the bamboo strips always slipped in her palm, and even the most basic weaving methods stumbled, "said Su Dapeng, a student from Vientiane Province. With the help of Chinese teachers, she not only learned how to select raw materials, use tools, and weave techniques, but also opened up new ideas for entrepreneurship. "I will bring these valuable skills back to the village, teach more sisters, and let everyone rely on their skills to increase family income," said Su Dabeng. This change stems from the Chinese team's precise alignment with local needs and training practices. Tian Yajia, a representative inheritor of bamboo weaving intangible cultural heritage from Guizhou, China, disassembled the complex traditional patterns into three steps: "threading, winding, and pressing". Within three days, she demonstrated 12 core processes step by step and recorded teaching videos for students to review after class. Huanglian, a representative inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of rattan weaving from Guangxi, will combine the operating habits of Laotian women and repeatedly refine the traditional metal weaving knife into a wooden handle, reducing the difficulty of grip. In the end, 16 students successfully completed 128 works, of which 30 were sold to Yunnan, China, bringing them their first "handicraft income" in life. The President of the Lao Women's Federation, Ali Vonnobuntan, said, "China's training programs truly meet the most urgent needs of Laotian women, allowing them to create value and earn respect with their hands. This is the most vivid practice of the concept of gender equality." In recent years, China has continued to deepen international cooperation in women's capacity building, building a multi-level and widely covered training system. Establish a global women's development cooperation and exchange training base in Beijing, and tailor different content of women's empowerment projects; Cooperate with 15 countries to establish Chinese and foreign women's training (exchange) centers, move classrooms from conference rooms to community workshops, and make training more down-to-earth and effective; Specially approved and implemented over 100 training projects, including the Women's and Children's Health Promotion Training Course under the Global Development Initiative and the "Developing Countries Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Training Course - Women and Children's Theme"; The Women's Leadership and Social Development Degree Program has been launched, training nearly 4000 outstanding talents in the field of women... Ruth, a female official from Rwanda, said after participating in the women's entrepreneurship and innovation training program organized by the Chinese side that the training organized by the Chinese side is not only about technology transfer, but also provides a path for women in developing countries to "rely on skills to establish themselves". This practice of "teaching people to fish" can truly help women break through development limitations. Peace protection, highlighting the unique role of women. "Peace is not only about stopping gunshots, but also about rebuilding understanding and trust between people. ”Gao Yan, from the 23rd batch of Chinese peacekeeping medical teams to Lebanon, holds multiple positions including obstetrician and gynecologist, civil affairs officer, gender officer, and news officer. During a women's special free clinic, she treated a villager who was 4 months pregnant. Due to war and economic pressure, this pregnant woman had never undergone prenatal check ups before. Gao Yan not only conducted a comprehensive ultrasound examination for her, but also patiently explained pregnancy care knowledge. When the first scene of fetal heartbeat appeared on the screen, the pregnant woman was so excited that tears welled up in her eyes. After the inspection, she held Gao Yan and repeatedly said "thank you". This warm moment is a true portrayal of Chinese female soldiers conveying care and hope in peacekeeping missions. As an active implementer of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace, and security, China has always supported women's participation in conflict prevention, peace negotiations, and home reconstruction. Since China sent the first batch of peacekeeping forces to Lebanon in 2006, batches of Chinese female peacekeeping personnel have rushed to the forefront of the war: some of them have cleared mines and cleared explosives in minefields, opening up a "safe passage" for local people; Some fight against time in the operating room to organize rescue and protect every hope of life; Some go deep into the community to carry out women's and children's protection work, using patience and empathy to convey care; Some coordinate and coordinate in command positions, demonstrating their professional abilities and responsibilities. On International Peacekeepers Day 2020, Chinese military officer Xin Yuan was awarded the United Nations Military Gender Equality Advocate Award, becoming the first Chinese soldier to receive this honor. The then commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, Delkol, commented, "This is a recognition and commendation of her professional dedication in the arduous and dangerous mine clearance work. She is an excellent representative of all female peacekeeping personnel in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon." In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Chinese peacekeeping medical team paired up with the International SOS Children's Village stationed in Bukavu, and the female officers and soldiers were affectionately called "Chinese mothers" by the children. The contribution of Chinese female peacekeeping personnel in peacekeeping operations has irreplaceable value. They have enhanced the trust of local people, especially women and children, in peacekeeping operations with their delicate communication and empathy skills; The integration of female perspectives makes conflict prevention, community integration, and home reconstruction work more closely aligned with practical needs and more humane. China has more than 1200 female peacekeeping officers and soldiers, and over 100 female peacekeeping police officers participating in medical support, liaison and coordination, mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal, patrol observation, and promoting gender equality and women's protection. The China United Nations Peace and Development Fund has also launched a senior female talent training program to train and reserve female commanders for UN peacekeeping operations. From technical assistance to capacity training, from supporting women's empowerment projects to jointly addressing global challenges, China has always promoted the development of the global women's cause with pragmatic actions and an open attitude, narrowing the development gap among women in various countries. In the future, China will continue to work together with all parties to promote inclusive and sustainable development of women's cause. (Xinhua News Agency) (Reported by our reporter Xue Dan)
