On October 11th, the Thailand International Book Fair was held in Bangkok from the 9th to the 20th, and the art of puppetry from Fujian and Taiwan made its debut abroad at the expo. The Fujian Taiwan Puppet Art Exhibition, held at the Thailand International Book Fair, takes Fujian Taiwan puppet art as its core carrier. Through exquisite puppet objects, detailed graphic and textual materials, and vivid visual records, it witnesses the long-standing artistic heritage and history of Fujian and Taiwan, and showcases the unique charm of excellent traditional Chinese culture to local people and overseas Chinese. The Fujian Taiwan Puppet Art Exhibition is planned and organized by the China Fujian Taiwan Friendship Museum. Shen Wenfeng, the deputy director of the museum, told reporters that during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, a large number of Minnan people migrated to Taiwan, and the string puppetry and palm puppetry from Minnan areas were also brought to Taiwan by immigrants. Therefore, traditional Taiwanese puppetry has inherited the regulations and styles of Minnan puppetry in various aspects such as performance repertoire, roles, and performing arts. Since the 1940s, string puppetry has gradually declined in Taiwan, and palm puppetry has become the main performance form of Taiwanese puppetry. With the development of the times, new types such as golden light puppetry and Thunderbolt puppetry have emerged. With the reform and opening up of the mainland and the integration and development of puppetry, cross-strait puppetry art and cultural exchanges have gradually increased, working together to better inherit and protect this excellent cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. Shen Wenfeng stated that Thailand has a splendid culture and rich performing arts tradition. This exhibition aims to promote dialogue and mutual learning among different civilizations through puppetry, a global artistic language. As a beautiful business card of Chinese culture, the Fujian Taiwan puppetry art exhibited overseas not only allows overseas compatriots to relieve their homesickness, but also enables foreign people to deeply understand the diversity and inclusiveness of Chinese culture. The exhibition has attracted widespread attention and active participation from local cultural figures, representatives of Chinese communities, school students, and numerous citizens, with a strong response.
