Recently, the core equipment of the national major scientific and technological infrastructure, the supergravity centrifuge simulation and experimental device, located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, was officially put into use. This fully independently developed supergravity scientific device in China can create a "supergravity field" that exceeds the Earth's gravity by thousands of times. This device can reproduce the changes in the real world in a very small size and in a very short time in the laboratory, providing key support for deducing and verifying kilometer scale disasters, perpetual calendar pollution migration, and so on. This device is led by Zhejiang University and is a large-scale complex scientific experimental facility that combines supergravity fields with extreme environments. The first centrifuge to be used this time has a capacity of 1300g · t (gravitational acceleration · ton), which is currently the largest centrifuge in the world in terms of capacity. In addition, two centrifuges with capacities of 1500g · t and 1900g · t are being intensively installed and constructed. All equipment is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. In the future, from deep-sea energy development to seismic resistant building design, from nuclear waste treatment to new material research and development, the simulation and experimental device of supergravity centrifugation will become a powerful booster for interdisciplinary research.
