According to the Guangdong Song and Dance Theater on the 9th, the dance work "Wan" by the theater has become one of the key works representing Guangdong to participate in the 18th Wenhua Award with its unique creative concept and exquisite artistic expression. The final evaluation of the 18th Wenhua Award Program Award (Dance Special Session) will be held in Chongqing. For this reason, during this year's National Day and Mid Autumn Festival holiday, the Guangdong Song and Dance Theater Troupe rehearsed intensively to prepare for the competition for the Wenhua Award. The dance work 'Bay' was created in 2022, directed by Li Chao, composed by Zhao Bo, and designed by Li Kun. It is a poetic dance that showcases the cultural landscape of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. In terms of dance arrangement, the dance piece 'Bay' vividly reproduces the natural rhythm of tidal fluctuations through the smooth and rhythmic changes in group dance formations. Dancers showcase dynamic scenes of waves gathering, spreading, swirling, and colliding through their body postures, as they exhale, inhale, and relax. The lead dancer holds a lantern and lightly shuttles between the "waves", creating a distinct image of a "guide". The entire performance is dotted with lines, forming a surface with lines, cleverly outlining the beautiful scene of "waves returning to the bay, borrowing fishing fires at night". At the same time, the dance work "Wan" not only incorporates cultural symbols with regional characteristics such as the combination of strength and softness in "Nan Quan" and the lively and agile "Little Lion Head", but also unfolds a philosophical picture symbolizing the inheritance of life and cultural continuity through the gradual appearance of symbolic characters such as children, martial arts practitioners, pregnant women, and the elderly in the waves. Director Li Chao cleverly extracted the Chaoshan folk custom of "running lanterns" as the core visual symbol, using contemporary choreography vocabulary to give lanterns a deeper meaning: it not only illuminates the return journey of travelers, but also symbolizes the common cultural centripetal force and emotional identity of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. The main melody of the dance work 'Bay' is selected from the traditional Guangdong nursery rhyme 'Moonlight'. This song, full of childlike innocence and local flavor, was innovatively arranged by composer Zhao Bo. While retaining the original warm tone, it incorporates multi-level vocal humming and rich chord effects, creating a grand and emotional soundstage. The main color scheme of the clothing is dark blue, symbolizing the depth and tranquility of the bay. On the basis of extracting traditional folk clothing elements, fashion designer Li Kun added innovative expressions that meet contemporary aesthetic and thematic needs. The lead dancer was dressed in a trailing long dress, moving like ripples on the water surface. The group dance costumes are spacious and stretched, with a transition design from deep blue to light blue at the hem. It is reported that previously, "Wan" had won honors such as the 13th China Dance "Lotus Award" Contemporary Dance Award and the 14th National Dance Exhibition "Excellent Program" Award.
