Georgetown News: The Balat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge in Guyana, constructed by China Railway Construction International Group Co., Ltd., officially opened on the 5th. Guiana President Ali, Prime Minister Phillips, Vice President Jagdeo, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Yang Yang, and tens of thousands of political figures and representatives from various sectors of society from both countries attended the opening ceremony. In his speech, Alibaba expressed gratitude to the Chinese contractor and pointed out that the official opening of the bridge marks the beginning of a series of infrastructure reforms in Guyana. Alibaba refers to the bridge as the "lifeline" of commerce, industry, and people's lives, stating that it will significantly increase transportation capacity and alleviate traffic pressure. The New Demerara River Bridge is located in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, and is the largest and most technologically complex transportation infrastructure project in Guyana to date. The total length of the bridge is about 2900 meters, with a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The bridge deck is a two-way four lane road with a designed service life of 100 years.
