Deepen the systematic and practical training of all elements

2025-10-09

In the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War, seven combat groups including land operations, sea operations, air defense and anti missile operations were formed in a practical and joint manner, showcasing the comprehensive, systematic, and case based training level and joint combat capability of the troops. A scholar becomes brave through practice, and a warrior wins through practice. Military training is the fundamental way to improve combat effectiveness and a key link in military preparedness. Scientific selection and application of training methods are of great significance in ensuring that the troops can fight and win battles, and improving the overall construction level of the troops. President Xi emphasized the need to strengthen comprehensive, systematic, and case-based training based on complex and difficult conditions. This important instruction has strong practicality and guidance. The three aspects of comprehensive elements, systematic integration, and practical implementation are closely linked, interconnected, and interact with each other, with the ultimate goal of promoting deep coupling of combat training and achieving integration of combat and training. To be able to fight and win battles, the most important thing is to improve practical combat capabilities. From recent local wars, it can be seen that the form of warfare is accelerating towards informatization and intelligence, and the concept, elements, and methods of winning are undergoing significant changes. The changes in technology, warfare, and opponents are becoming increasingly prominent. Especially our military is facing the major issue of developing practical combat capabilities without experiencing actual combat, and forming systematic combat capabilities in a relatively short period of time. It is urgent for us to steadfastly promote practical military training, improve our military training level and practical capabilities, in order to adapt to the development and needs of war. Currently, the level of practical combat in our military training is increasing, and the smell of gunpowder is becoming stronger. However, there is still a gap in shaping a deeply coupled pattern of combat training. For example, there are more plans for collaborative training, less opportunities for collaborative training, more training for single elements, less training for system linkage, more standards for combat elements, less standards for support elements, and so on. We must adhere to the principle of unity in combat and training, train as we fight, determine training content based on combat mission requirements, innovate training methods based on ability generation paths, construct training environments based on future combat scenarios, and continuously improve the coupling of combat and training, in order to ensure that we are ready to call, able to fight, and victorious in battle. Operational elements refer to the necessary factors that make up the combat system, such as intelligence reconnaissance, command and control, firepower strikes, overall protection, and comprehensive support, which are all essential and interdependent key factors that constrain each other. Future warfare is a confrontation between systems, but no matter how high the level, scale, or complex the structure of the combat system is, it cannot be separated from the precise coordination between the basic elements. If the training of combat elements, combat platforms, key positions, etc. is not strong enough, it is impossible to form a solid overall joint combat capability. We should follow the training principle of "separation first, integration later, cohesion and external connection", extract forces to form adversarial entities, conduct element confrontation exercises, and improve the integration and fusion ability, professional collaboration ability, and system combat ability of each element in an environment similar to actual combat. We should train every individual soldier, every type of equipment, and every type of combat element to the extreme, and build a "nine zhang high platform" for joint operations based on the foundation of all elements. War requires joint combat, and soldiers need systematic training. Modern warfare is a confrontation between systems, a competition between systems. From recent local wars, it can be seen that combat operations place greater emphasis on unity, coordination, and overall integrity. Without the support of the system, even the most advanced single equipment and powerful single force cannot play their due role. Comprehensively promoting the transformation and upgrading of military training requires us to accelerate the transformation of training modes, change training methods, and embark on a new path of training system and systematic training. Each unit should grasp the grasp of the network information system, pay attention to using the system contribution rate to test and improve the effectiveness of military training, actively embed themselves in the combat chain, enrich the combat experience of the system in practice, improve the combat capability of the system, achieve the comprehensive use of multiple military forces, close coordination of various combat elements, and complementary advantages of various weapon platforms. Case based training refers to the military conducting "pre combat" in a hypothetical real combat environment to verify the correctness and feasibility of combat plans, and to generate practical combat capabilities that can complete established combat tasks, effectively achieving the goal of "training soldiers and fighting battles as planned". The first step in case-based training is to make the "case" real, thoroughly studying where to fight, who to fight with, and what kind of war to fight. War has always been fought in two stages, the first in the minds of military strategists and the second in reality. On the eve of the outbreak of the Pacific War, the Japanese army hired professionals to conduct military simulations based on the strength of Japan and the United States. The results of multiple simulations were that if Japan and the United States went to war, Japan would have no chance of winning. But the Japanese military's top management did not trust the judgment of professionals, deliberately changing data and conditions to come to their desired conclusions, and the ultimate failure has been proven by history. Each unit should take combat tasks as the driving force, scientifically formulate training plans, integrate training content, improve training processes, optimize training methods, so that task forces are familiar with the plan, tactics, actions, and coordination, and minimize the distance between training and actual combat. They should strengthen the combat system, refine tactical tactics, and strengthen the fighting spirit, and use the "cause" of practical training to seek the "result" of improving combat effectiveness. They should strive to forge a capable and invincible elite army. (New Society)
