The exhibition "Centennial Protection - From the Forbidden City to the Palace Museum" was unveiled at the Meridian Gate Exhibition Hall of the Palace Museum on the 29th, featuring heavyweight cultural relics such as "Along the River during Qingming Festival," "Five Bulls," and "Distant Notes. The exhibition is divided into three major sections: "One Vein of Culture", "One Hundred Years of Inheritance", and "Ten Thousand Phenomena". 200 pieces (sets) were carefully selected from over 1.95 million cultural relics in the collection for exhibition. What a man has now belongs to the people of various countries. "Walking into the exhibition hall of Xiyan Wing Tower, a pair of cloisonn é enamel tiles with a peaceful appearance came into view. As the first cultural relic in the exhibition, its auspicious significance laid the foundation for the entire exhibition. This exhibition hall is themed "Yimai Wenyuan" and is divided into three parts: "Tianfu Yongcang", "Ziban Chukai", and "New Life of the Forbidden City". It systematically showcases the continuation, preservation, and utilization of the collections of the Chinese court, while also reproducing historical events such as the establishment of the Palace Museum, the passage of the complete Palace Museum protection plan, the southward relocation of Palace Museum cultural relics, and the surveying of the central axis. An old photo of the porcelain display in Chengqian Palace, taken in the 1930s, has been enlarged as a background board. In the front display cabinet, there are a pair of enamel flower patterned garlic bottles, a bowl with a painted mandarin duck and lotus pond picture, and a pair of pink baby play picture double ear curved mouth bottles that appear in the photo. Xu Wanling, a research curator at the Palace Museum, stated that this design aims to create a sense of dialogue with history. Back then, these porcelain pieces were displayed in wooden cabinets like this. A hundred years later, audiences can still see them vividly displayed in the exhibition cabinets of the Palace Museum. As the first director of the Palace Museum, Yi Peiji, once said, 'Since the establishment of the museum, the so-called secret palace treasures have been shared by people from all over the world.' It is the mission of every museum staff member to let the audience understand the significance of collection protection, research, and exhibition display in every aspect. National treasures gather in the main hall of the Meridian Gate with the theme of 'hundred year inheritance', divided into three parts: 'National Treasure Collection', 'Ancient Artifacts shine brightly', and 'Palace Radiance'. Most heavyweight cultural relics are gathered here. The "Boyuan Tie" is the only authentic work with famous inscriptions in the ink of the Jin Dynasty, and its importance is self-evident. In 1951, this volume was repurchased by the Social and Cultural Affairs Management Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and handed over to the Palace Museum for safekeeping and collection; The "Five Bulls Painting" is currently the earliest surviving paper painting. It was scattered out of the palace in 1900. When it returned to the Forbidden City in 1958, the fragile paper scroll had been passed down and left numerous scars. Later, it was repaired by experts such as Sun Chengzhi and was reborn; The painting 'Along the River during Qingming Festival' was carried out of the palace by Pu Jie in 1923 and handed over to the Palace Museum by the state in 1958. At the scene, precious cultural relics such as the Ming Chenghua Doucai Sanqiu Cup donated by Sun Yingzhou and the "Zhu Shang Zuo Tie" donated by Zhang Boju were also exhibited, jointly writing a beautiful story of national treasures converging and ancient relics shining brightly. Xu Wanling specially introduced that "almost every 10 years, 'Along the River During Qingming Festival' will make a heavyweight appearance, but the story told each time is different. 20 years ago, it completed a key link in the context of Song Dynasty folk paintings; 10 years ago, it appeared as a classic cultural relic in the Shiqu Baoji; now, it is the 'spokesperson' of the hundred year history of the academy." The exhibition hall of the Dongyan Wing Tower, with the theme of 'Thousands of Meteorology', is divided into three parts: 'Civilization Continuation', 'Huazhang Gongpu', and 'Taihe Full'. Facing the exhibition hall is a green jade beast face pattern jade, which has been found to be the largest among Han Dynasty jade, with a diameter of nearly 40 centimeters. Qianlong equipped it with a rosewood frame and used the jade as a screen, making it a display masterpiece. Looking through the holes in the jade jade, one can see the bronze lotus and crane square teapot from the Spring and Autumn Period, the Jin Ou Yonggu Cup from the Qing Emperor Qianlong, and the lotus and crane square teapot paired with each other. Chinese culture has been passed down through this millennium long dialogue. As the final cultural relic of the entire exhibition, the Qing Qianlong special bell became the finale. This special chime echoes a pair of golden bells exhibited at the Xiyan Wing Tower, known as the "Golden Sound and Jade Vibration". At the same time, we have specifically chosen the third special chime, named "Tai Zu", which symbolizes the growth of all things. We hope to draw a perfect conclusion to the three units and symbolize a new beginning for the Palace Museum in the next century, "said Xu Wanling. It is reported that a small number of precious paintings and calligraphy, such as "Along the River during Qingming Festival", will be exhibited for a limited period of time and will be maintained afterwards. The cultural relics for taking over the baton are also heavyweight, with confirmed appearances such as "On the Terrace Tie" and "Shen Zhou's Imitation of Huang Gongwang's Dwelling in Fuchun Mountain". The Palace Museum reminds that in order to create a good visiting atmosphere, the "Along the River During Qingming Festival" will adopt a mobile visiting mode. The staff will guide the audience to queue up in an orderly manner. During the viewing of the exhibits, the audience should follow the guidance of the on-site staff, appreciate quietly, and avoid loud noises. During the visit, consciously refrain from stopping, taking photos, or explaining, in order to allow more viewers to appreciate this exhibit. This exhibition will last until December 30th and is available for pre order visits. (New Society)
