In the past five years, the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has achieved fruitful results in the field of building an independent knowledge system for Chinese archaeology, and the 12 achievements released today are representative of them. Opening the "List of Achievements of Archaeological Research Institutes in the Past Five Years", 277 profound academic achievements are prominently listed, not only outlining the clear development of the discipline, but also demonstrating the mission, responsibility, and leading role of the archaeological "national team" with solid core strength. In the past five years, the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has fully utilized the coordinated demonstration effect of major projects, led the implementation of the Chinese Civilization Exploration Project, carried out key research and development plans of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and deeply participated in promoting national level major research projects such as the Archaeology of China and the Xia Shang Civilization Research Project. For example, the 2018 Blood Wei No.1 Tomb in the Hot Water Tomb Group of Dulan County, Qinghai Province, applies the concept of settlement archaeology to tomb excavation, revealing information such as tomb form, burial ceremony, and accompanying objects, providing detailed and reliable evidence for interpreting the relationship between the Tang Dynasty, Tubo, and Tuyuhun. The Archaeological Research Institute also adheres to the concept of openness, cooperation, and win-win, maintaining close cooperative relationships with various sister units. Many archaeological research projects are completed through multi-party cooperation. For example, the "Archaeological Excavation Report of Quanzhou City Site: Quanzhou Nanwai Zongsi Site 2020 · Quanzhou Shisi Site 2019-2021" was jointly completed by the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Fujian Museum, Fujian Provincial Institute of Archaeology, and Quanzhou Maritime Silk Road World Heritage Center. Studying ancient people not only involves "moving hands and feet to find things", but also "telling stories vividly", ultimately achieving the goal of educating people through history and culture. The book 'Civilized China: A Million Years of Human History, Ten Thousand Years of Cultural History, and Over Five Thousand Years of Civilization' is the latest achievement in the long-term research, theoretical interpretation, and systematic presentation of ancient Chinese humans, Chinese culture, and Chinese civilization.
