The Secretariat of the Cyberspace Administration of China and four other departments recently jointly issued a notice on regulating the behavior of "self media" in medical science popularization, which regulates the dissemination of medical science popularization information by "self media" and provides a basis for preventing false medical science popularization information from misleading the public and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the people. This move has won widespread praise from netizens, reflecting people's deep expectations for purifying cyberspace. The development of short video platforms has been going well, activating a pool of spring water in the digital economy with them as application scenarios. Various types of video content have sprung up like mushrooms after rain, enriching the spiritual world of the online space while also adding a hint of noise. Some accounts use the names of "science popularization", "knowledge sharing", and "enlightenment" to impersonate white angels, agricultural technology experts, and life mentors. They use the virtual attributes of cyberspace to fabricate character designs, create fictional backgrounds, spread rumors, create panic, and hide behind screens to gain illegal benefits. The proliferation of these online "Li Guis" may not only have a negative impact on users' physical health and directly infringe on their rights and interests, but also pose a threat to the construction of a clean, healthy and orderly online ecosystem. It is also a stumbling block to the stable and far-reaching development of the digital economy. The essence of the digital economy is the trust economy, and its healthy operation highly relies on reliable information and solid trust. False information is like a corrosive agent, eroding the credit foundation of online transactions and digital services, leading to a significant increase in transaction costs due to mutual suspicion among people. The governance of the 'Li Gui' in the internet must identify the root cause. On the one hand, the rapid development of emerging technologies such as virtual attributes and artificial intelligence in cyberspace has exacerbated information asymmetry and increased the difficulty for the public to discern the authenticity of information. On the other hand, the traffic oriented algorithm recommendation mechanism allows some content with strong emotional agitation and curiosity to spread widely, while some real popular science content often spreads poorly. All sectors of society need to strengthen collaboration, carry out targeted comprehensive governance, compress the living space of "Li Gui", and create a real, clear, and trustworthy green environment in cyberspace, so that digital technology can better promote the high-quality development of the digital economy. We should further improve the qualification certification of medical "self media" accounts. Based on qualification verification, we should strengthen the display of certification information in a prominent position on the account homepage to facilitate users in identifying the source of information. The "self media" account that explicitly requires the provision of medical science popularization content shall be responsible for the authenticity and scientificity of publishing and forwarding medical science popularization information. Further improve the user agreement, strengthen the management of professional medical science popularization behavior in accordance with the law and the agreement, and strictly prohibit unqualified accounts from producing and publishing professional medical science popularization content in accordance with the principle of "re examining existing stocks and strictly managing new additions".
