Lift up 'good days' with' tight days'

2025-09-22

The way of a country is to conserve resources and benefit the people. Practicing frugality and opposing waste is the glorious tradition and excellent style of our party. In May of this year, the revised "Regulations on Implementing Frugality and Opposing Waste in Party and Government Organs" (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations") were promulgated and implemented. The Regulations have put forward higher standards and stricter requirements for the management of funds, official receptions, conference activities, and other aspects of party and government organs, further tightening the institutional bolts that lead the way in living a "tight life". This is not only an important measure to help deeply implement the spirit of the Central Eight point Regulation, but also an inevitable requirement for improving the normalization and long-term mechanism of work style construction, demonstrating the Party's clear and firm commitment to continuously promoting self revolution and deepening work style construction on the new journey. This measure conforms to the will of the people, has won widespread support from the public opinion and the heartfelt support of the vast number of cadres and masses. Since the implementation of the Regulations, the awareness of thrift among Party members and cadres has been increasingly strengthened, the good atmosphere of upholding integrity and frugality has been continuously consolidated, and the relationship between the Party and the masses has become closer. However, at the same time, there are also some one-sided or even erroneous understandings in society, which oppose living a "tight life" with stimulating the enthusiasm of cadres, leading the masses to live a "good life", and vigorously boosting consumption. These views not only misunderstand the original intention of the policy, but also ignore the underlying governance logic. They must be clarified in a timely manner from an ideological perspective and resolutely corrected in action. Some people believe that strict expenditure control will constrain the hands and feet of officials and affect their work enthusiasm. This viewpoint contrasts living a "tight life" with "improving work efficiency", which is actually a misinterpretation of the original intention of the policy. Hard work and frugality have always been the political nature of our party, which is determined by the fundamental purpose and nature of our party. The strict implementation of frugality by party and government organs and leading by example in living a "tight life" is an important measure to comprehensively strengthen the construction of the party's work style and strengthen disciplinary supervision. It helps to drive the continuous improvement of social and folk customs with excellent party and government conduct, and create a good environment for unity, hard work, and entrepreneurship. Living a "tight life" is not about not doing anything, but about spending money on the "cutting edge"; It's not about lowering work standards, but pursuing higher efficiency. Practice has proven that this' tightness' is not a 'shackle' that restricts hands and feet, but a 'compass' that focuses on the main responsibility and business; This "frugality" is not a "shrinkage" of work quality, but a "booster" for improving efficiency. Of course, for some places and units that simply adopt a one size fits all approach, cutting necessary office expenses, training expenses, and basic benefits that deviate from the norm, they must be corrected in a timely manner. Some people are concerned that the government's "tight schedule" may lead to a decrease in investment in people's livelihoods, causing the people to follow suit and live a "difficult life". This viewpoint separates the "tight days" of party and government organs from the "good days" of the people, ignoring the dialectical unity between the two. In fact, the Party and the government have taken the lead in living a "tight life" by reducing non essential expenses and strictly controlling the "three public" funds. This is precisely to allocate more funds and resources to the needs of development and the expectations of the people, and to invest them in areas that are most concerned and urgent for the people, such as education, healthcare, elderly care, housing, etc., so that limited financial resources can maximize social and livelihood benefits. This' reduction ',' increase ',' province ', and' investment 'is not a simple numerical adjustment, but a profound optimization of resource allocation. It is to free up space and make way for the people to live a' good life ', allowing limited fiscal funds to exert the effect of' four or two transfers of a thousand pounds', and enabling the people to have more sense of gain, happiness, and security in reform and development. Some people are concerned that strict frugality may suppress consumption and affect market vitality. This viewpoint contrasts living a "tight life" with "boosting consumption" and confuses policy boundaries. It must be clarified that living a "tight life" constrains the unreasonable expenditures of party and government organs, opposes extravagant and wasteful behaviors such as "image projects" and "political achievements projects", and does not restrict normal consumption or suppress people's livelihood needs. Using the saved funds to reduce taxes and fees, support technological innovation, improve infrastructure, and optimize the business environment can not only better leverage the synergy between the government and the efficient market, enhance the endogenous driving force of the economy, stimulate market vitality, but also promote the formation of a green, rational, and healthy consumption trend. This virtuous transmission chain of "government tightening, market adding vitality, and public willingness to consume" is highly compatible with the goal of expanding domestic demand and promoting consumption upgrading. Looking through the past virtuous countries and families, success has been achieved through diligence and frugality, and through extravagance. From "saving every penny" in the revolutionary war era to insisting on living a "tight life" in the new era, hard work, diligence, and frugality are not only important guarantees for our development and growth along the way, but also important guarantees for us to carry on the past and create new glories. Party members and cadres should inherit the family heirloom of hard work and struggle, deeply implement the spirit of the Central Eight point Regulation, cultivate a sense of serving the people, strengthen their sense of responsibility, and invest more resources and energy into promoting high-quality development and enhancing people's well-being. Only by consciously forming a culture of frugality with a sense of "tightness" and taking on the responsibility of "doing" to do a good job in people's livelihood can "tight days" truly become a solid support for "good days". We firmly believe that when the "strictness" and "frugality" of party and government organs become prevailing, the "good days" of the people will become more solid with the pace of high-quality development, and the foundation of national rejuvenation will also be more stable.
