It will be held in Zhengzhou, Henan from September 19th to 23rd. The reporter learned that during this competition, more than 3500 skilled talents from all over the country will compete in 106 events. Among the 106 events set up in this competition, 66 are selected for the World Championships and 40 are selected for the National Championships, covering more than 30 categories of the national economy in the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. Among them, intelligent manufacturing, high-end equipment, new energy, new materials, digital technology and other events account for more than 50%. At the preparation base of Guangzhou Technician College, Lin Wei, a recent graduate majoring in automation from South China University of Technology, is a participant from Guangdong Province and is fully preparing for the newly added smart security technology project in this competition. As a new competition, smart security technology integrates various advanced technologies, including but not limited to high-definition video surveillance, artificial intelligence image analysis, intelligent sensor networks, and automated warning and response mechanisms. ”Zhang Pengran, Deputy Director of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Department at Guangzhou Technician College, introduced that currently, the contestants are simulating and training competition scenarios such as building intercom, video surveillance, and parking lot management. Participating in the competition has greatly improved my skills, including programming skills, installation skills, hardware and software usage, etc. The application prospects of these knowledge and skills are very broad, not limited to smart security, but can play a role in many fields such as industry and information technology. ”Lin Wei said. The China Vocational Skills Competition is currently the highest standard, most diverse, largest scale, highest level, and most influential comprehensive national vocational skills competition in China. Behind the trend of preparing for competitions is China's continuous support for the construction of skilled talent teams. In recent years, China has continuously improved the training standards, evaluation system, and incentive system for skilled talents. During the 14th Five Year Plan period, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, in conjunction with relevant departments, implemented the "Skills China Action", formulated and implemented two "14th Five Year Plan" plans for vocational skills training and vocational education, established the "New Eight Level" vocational skills grading system, and implemented a talent cultivation plan for high skilled leaders; Since the beginning of this year, documents such as the "Notice on Implementing the 'Skills Illuminate the Future' Training Action" and the "Guiding Opinions on Carrying out Large scale Vocational Skills Enhancement Training Action" have been successively issued, further supporting the construction of a skilled talent ecosystem. On the fertile soil of policies, the growth of skilled talents in our country has flourished. According to the Statistical Bulletin on the Development of Human Resources and Social Security in 2024, 14.25 million people received subsidized vocational skills training throughout the year, with a total of 704000 trained digital talents and over 12000 digital technology engineers. As of the end of 2024, there are a total of 2440 technical colleges and 28983 private training institutions in China. The total number of skilled talents in our country is constantly expanding, the structure is continuously optimized, and the ability to serve economic and social development is further enhanced. Under the guidance of policies, various regions have introduced a series of "down-to-earth" differentiated training measures based on regional industrial characteristics, promoting the resonance between skilled talent cultivation and industrial development. Recently, Beijing released the "Beijing New Quality Productivity Human Resources Development Catalog (2025 Edition)", which for the first time added a professional evaluation guidance catalog for technical and skilled talents, including 12 industries such as new generation information technology and artificial intelligence; Hubei held the second "Digital Craftsman" Employee Skills Competition, setting up five major job categories including industrial robot system operation and maintenance personnel; Sichuan has incorporated the construction of a high skilled talent team into its talent strategy deployment and vigorously implemented the "Skill Sichuan" action. From the perspective of the preparation stage, the model of "practical" specialized training carried out by various regions relying on technical colleges and public training bases is a microcosm of the optimization and upgrading of China's vocational skills training system. As the representative of the highest level of vocational skills competition in our country, the National Skills Competition is not only a stage for skilled talent competition, but also a window to observe the process of building a strong skilled nation in our country. ”Zhang Chenggang, Associate Professor of the School of Labor Economics at Capital University of Economics and Business and Director of the China New Employment Forms Research Center, said. Zhang Chenggang believes that with the normalization and standardization of skill competitions at all levels, the iterative upgrading of the skill talent training system will continue to be promoted, which will help to build a virtuous cycle of "promoting learning, training, and evaluation through competitions", truly realizing the goal of educating people and promoting production through competitions, continuously improving the comprehensive quality and social recognition of skilled talents, and injecting a continuous stream of talent strength into the construction of a skilled country.
