The National Medical Products Administration recently announced the "Special Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Production", which will come into effect on March 1, 2026. The regulations emphasize the full chain, process, and overall quality control from the control of traditional Chinese medicine raw materials, standardized production, to drug release from the factory, post market monitoring and evaluation, and risk control. Focusing on the source issues and key links that affect the production and quality of traditional Chinese medicine, proposing targeted solutions, focusing on the standardized development of Chinese medicinal materials, encouraging the accelerated transformation and upgrading of traditional Chinese medicine production, and promoting the digital transformation. Emphasize the quality assessment of traditional Chinese medicine, strengthen supplier audits, orderly promote the Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) for the production quality management of traditional Chinese medicine, guide traditional Chinese medicine enterprises to extend their quality management system to the entire production process of traditional Chinese medicine, and reduce intermediate links in the supply of traditional Chinese medicine.
