2666 elderly care meals have been built in Beijing

The reporter learned from the 2025 Beijing Elderly Care Service Industry Development Four Seasons Youth Forum held on the 9th that as of the end of 2024, there were a total of 5.14 million elderly residents in Beijing, surpassing the 5 million mark for the first time, accounting for 23.5% of the permanent population. Focusing on the actual elderly care needs, a total of 2666 elderly meal assistance facilities have been built and operated in the city, covering over 90% of urban and rural communities and 4.534 million elderly people. Yang Zhiwei, Deputy Director of the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau, introduced that there are currently 608 registered elderly care institutions with 109000 beds in Beijing. The system layout includes 105 regional elderly care centers, over 300 elderly care centers, and more than 1500 community elderly care service stations. In response to the service needs of elderly people over 80 years old, Beijing has promoted the construction and operation of 28000 family elderly care beds, launched the Family Caregiver Cloud Assistance Action, and provided professional empowerment to a total of 43000 family members, nannies, and other family caregivers.
