Strictly assess indicators such as antibacterial, sterilization, and odor removal for electric toilets. National standards for toilet seats have been released

The reporter learned today (September 4th) that the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standards Commission) has approved the release of the national standard "Antibacterial, Sterilization, and Purification Functions of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances Part 7: Special Requirements for Electric Toilet Seats", which will be implemented from January 1, 2027. The standards mainly provide clear requirements for electric toilet seats from three aspects: hygiene and safety, health protection functions, and product labeling. Strictly assess hygiene and safety indicators such as ozone and ultraviolet leakage according to standards. The health function of electric toilets relies on technologies such as ultraviolet radiation, ozone, and electrolyzed water. In response to risk factors such as ultraviolet and ozone leakage that affect human health and the ecological environment, standards have set assessment indicators for product ozone leakage and ultraviolet leakage, requiring leakage to be controlled at a safe level. At the same time, corresponding hygiene and safety requirements have been made for materials or components that are explicitly stated to have antibacterial functions and come into close contact with the human body during use. Strictly assess health protection indicators such as antibacterial, sterilization, and odor removal according to standards. Electric toilets are often used in humid environments, which can easily breed bacteria and produce odors. The standards have strict regulations on the health functions of electric toilets, such as antibacterial, sterilization, and odor removal. It is required that products claiming to have sterilization functions have a sterilization rate of no less than 90%, virus removal rates with anti-virus functions must be above 99%, and odor intensity differences with anti-virus functions must be greater than 1. In addition, for its materials or components, the standard also specifies requirements such as antibacterial rate, anti mold level, and antiviral rate. The standard requires products to clearly indicate health protection function information. The product should indicate its health protection functions, corresponding pollutant names, and main action factors in the logo or instructions, the parts where antibacterial, anti mold, and anti viral materials are used, as well as the replacement cycle and cleaning methods of these materials or components, so that consumers can have a clear idea when choosing the product.
