General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War, emphasizing that "the Chinese people firmly stand on the correct side of history and the progress of human civilization, adhere to the path of peaceful development, and work hand in hand with people of all countries to build a community with a shared future for mankind." Taking the path of peaceful development is not a stopgap measure or diplomatic rhetoric, but is determined by China's history, reality, and future. From a historical perspective, the path of peaceful development is determined by the peaceful nature of Chinese civilization. Peace, harmony, and harmony have always been the concepts pursued and inherited by the Chinese nation, shaping the spiritual character of "harmony is precious" and the cultural background of "harmony among all nations" in foreign exchanges. Our country has long been the most powerful country in the world, but there is no record of colonization or aggression against other countries. The peaceful nature of the Chinese civilization fundamentally determines the cultural gene for Chinese path to modernization to follow the path of peaceful development. On the contrary, in the process of modernization, Western countries have been plagued by bloody crimes such as war, slave trade, colonization, and plunder, which have brought profound suffering to developing countries. China has suffered greatly since modern times. During the Anti Japanese War alone, more than 35 million Chinese military and civilian casualties occurred. This tragic history has left unforgettable memories for the Chinese people. China has always emphasized the principle of 'do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself'. What the Chinese people learned from the war is not bandit logic, but more firm determination to maintain peace. From a practical perspective, the path of peaceful development is determined by the goal of achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Without a peaceful and stable domestic and international environment, no country can achieve development, and even the development achievements already made will be in vain. During World War II, the war consumed enormous resources of the participating countries and caused devastating destruction. As one of the sources of war, Japan's aggressive actions led to the complete destruction of its economy and industrial foundation, causing profound disasters to the Japanese people and providing a typical example for the world to launch an aggressive war and ultimately backfire on itself. History and reality have proven the fundamental significance of peace for development. Only by adhering to the path of peaceful development and working with other countries to maintain world peace can China achieve its goals and make greater contributions to the world. From a future perspective, taking the path of peaceful development is an inevitable choice that conforms to the world trend. Peace and development are the themes of the times, which is the basic consensus of the international community. In line with the global trend, China has consistently and clearly advocated the path of peaceful development, opposed war and conflict, and opposed hegemonism and power politics in international relations. At the same time, it is committed to building a new type of international relations that respect each other, are fair, just, and cooperate for win-win results, and promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. This is the Chinese plan given by the CPC on "what kind of world to build and how to build this world", which points out the direction for building a better world. The Chinese people always remember history and cherish peace. No matter how the international situation changes, China has always been a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a maintainer of the international order, tirelessly striving to promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
