On September 1, when the congress commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War was about to be held, the Supreme People's Procuratorate held a press conference with the theme of "Remembering the history of the war of resistance and inheriting the spirit of the war of resistance", which mainly informed the procuratorial organ of the relevant situation of giving full play to the procuratorial function of public interest litigation, strengthening the systematic protection of the historical and cultural resources of the war of resistance, and released a number of typical cases. According to the press conference, from 2023 to the first half of 2025, the national procuratorial organs handled a total of 2243 public interest litigation cases related to the protection of martyrs, red cultural relics, and revolutionary sites. Among them, there were 83 public interest litigation cases in the field of anti Japanese war, and 49 famous anti Japanese martyrs and hero groups were protected for their reputation and honor. Since 2021, the Supreme People's Procuratorate has deployed special supervision work on public interest litigation for the protection of red resources, including memorial facilities and cultural relics for anti Japanese martyrs, to strengthen overall coordination and precise guidance. The Supreme People's Procuratorate, together with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, jointly guided the Guizhou procuratorial organs to handle the administrative public interest litigation case of supervising and protecting the tomb of the Soviet assisted anti Japanese war pilot Jin Jiaoluo, and jointly guided the Hebei procuratorial organs to handle the civil public interest litigation case of infringing on the portraits and reputation of the five heroes of Langya Mountain. The relevant person in charge of the Supreme People's Procuratorate stated that in the next step, the procuratorial organs will focus on issues such as infringement of the reputation and honor of heroes and martyrs, lack of management of martyr memorial facilities, and inadequate protection of red heritage sites, and continue to increase their efforts in handling cases. Especially for the heinous illegal and criminal acts that use the internet to insult, defame heroes and martyrs, and distort the truth, we should actively take responsibility, comprehensively utilize the functions of criminal prosecution and public interest litigation prosecution, strengthen the investigation of clues and guidance on ongoing cases, and reflect the spirit of the rule of law of "strict" protection of heroes and martyrs.
